📚It’s back to school season and we’re thinking of all the Trans and Q***r students and educators in Arkansas. We are here for you! We will fight for you and the world is better place with you in it and remember we still have rights!

LGBTQ Student Rights:
- LGBTQ students have a right to be who they are and express themselves in public schools.
- Public schools should not “out” students to their families.
- Public schools have a responsibility to create a safe learning environment. They cannot ignore harassment based on a student’s appearance or behavior. Students should report harassment or threats to a principal or counselor. This puts the school on notice that officials can be held legally responsible for not protecting students.
- Public schools cannot force students to wear clothing inconsistent with their gender identity.
- If a public school permits any noncurricular clubs — clubs that aren’t directly related to classes taught in the school — then it must allow students to form a Gay-Straight Alliance or other LGBTQ-themed clubs, and the school can’t treat it differently from other noncurricular clubs.
This area of the law is constantly changing so reach out to support to us or ACLU of Arkansas

Movement building with Praxis Project 🧚🏽‍♂️ for Roots and Remedies 2025. The theme was Seeds & Bridges: We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are grateful to have participated in the local host committee to bring over 230 organizers from across the country to Little Rock to learn and organize together. Our member leaders presented the workshop Surviving and Building with Dignity, Creativity, and Joy: Challenges and Opportunities for Building Power with the LGBTQ+ Community in the South.

We hold so dear the flowers, artwork and Q***r Trans joy we shared with siblings from all over the diaspora 🌈 Thank you to the Praxis team and board for bringing us together and uplifting local businesses, organizations, artists and historic HBCU.

Thank you to our incredible member for this beautiful drawing and sweet letter of appreciation. 🌈 Moments like this show us what solidarity and collective care looks like.

When we come together, we have the power to change the course of a family’s life. We can disrupt the systems that profit from incarceration detention, and separation, and instead build something rooted in care, connection, and community.

For many Trans and Q***r migrants, immigration and legal status can create yet another barrier to safety, stability, and belonging. These systems don’t impact just one person—they impact entire families and communities because Trans and q***r people are never just individuals standing alone. We are siblings. We are chosen family. We are friends, partners, caregivers, neighbors, and loved ones. When one of us is impacted, the ripple reaches far beyond one person. When we show up for one person, we strengthen an entire network of people who love and depend on them.

Together, we can build an Arkansas where Trans and Q***r people have the support, autonomy, and opportunity to thrive.
