We've had a fun and busy week at Dunbar Garden!

We're pausing our Saturday pay-what-you-can markets until our fall produce is ready to harvest, so stay tuned to see when we'll be back! Our greens are planted and other beds are getting prepped for colder weather crops, and we're SO excited for St. Joseph Center of Arkansas to start building their new community beds in the upcoming weeks.

We welcomed three groups of kids to the garden this week- a Cub Scout troop, the Dunbar Community Center Photography Club, and students from Dunbar Middle School. We love showing kids how an urban garden runs, from sowing seeds to beekeeping to caring for chickens and creating a pollinator garden!

The Quapaw Home and Garden Club kicked off their 2026-2027 season at Dunbar Garden, with entertainment provided by The Orbitals. It was a beautiful evening of food, drinks and great live music!

Did you know there’s a mobile laundry service right across the parking lot from Dunbar Garden at Williams Library?

We’re excited to see this wonderful resource being offered to our Dunbar community. Central Arkansas Library System and First United Methodist Church - Little Rock are providing access to washers, dryers, detergent, and stain remover on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. 🫧

Mobile Laundry Services at Williams Library

CALS Community Resources is partnering with First United Methodist Church of Little Rock’s Lil’ Rock n Roll Wash to provide mobile laundry services at Williams Library.

Services are available on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The last load will be accepted at 11:00 a.m.

Please bring a small load only — approximately 2–3 days’ worth of clothing. Laundry detergent and stain remover will be provided.

Meet Pepper, Poppy, Pinto Bean and Peanut 😻

Dunbar Garden’s newest residents will join our three acres in a few weeks! Eliot Peterson installed a cat door so they’ll have shelter from extreme weather, and they’ll have plenty of room to run, play and keep the mice at bay.

Pepper, Poppy, Pinto Bean and Peanut are 5-1/2 month old local kittens from just around the corner at the Governor’s Mansion. We can’t wait to welcome them to the Dunbar Garden family.

Thank you to Holly Morgan for caring for the kitties while they await their new home, and to Christy Beason at CLAWS Cat Rescue and Arkansas For Animals for facilitating their spay, neuter and microchipping.
