June is Children’s Vision Awareness Month
Clear vision helps children learn, grow, and connect with the world around them. Yet, vision problems can often go unnoticed—especially in young children or those with special health care needs.

At Family Voices, we encourage families and caregivers to:
- Schedule regular vision screenings and eye exams
- Pay attention to signs like squinting, headaches, or difficulty focusing
- Talk with providers about how vision impacts learning, development, and behavior

Please be careful during this heat advisory ...

As the weather starts to get warmer, it's important to remember that extreme heat can quickly become dangerous—especially for our elderly neighbors, disabled individuals, veterans, young children, and pets.

A simple phone call, text message, or knock on the door could make all the difference. Check in on family, friends, and neighbors to make sure they have air conditioning or fans, plenty of water, access to medications, a cool place to rest, and transportation if assistance is needed.

Never leave pets outside without shade and fresh water, and never leave children or animals unattended in a vehicle—even for a short time.

During periods of extreme heat, cooling locations such as Town Hall, libraries, grocery stores, and other public facilities may be available.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and look out for one another.
