According to the African American Literature Book Club, nearly 180 Black-owned bookstores now operate nationwide, up from just 54 in 2014 after years of decline. During Black History Month and beyond, I encourage you to support these eight bookstores and many others across the country. When we support Black bookstores, we invest in literacy, legacy, and liberation. They are invaluable community spaces honoring our past, present, and future!
