Good afternoon, everyone.
Several people have contacted me with questions about the official colors of Juneteenth. The Juneteenth flag is red, white, and blue. β€οΈπ€π It was created by Ben Haith in 1997, and he also founded the National Juneteenth Celebration Foundation.
Please do not confuse the Juneteenth flag with the Pan-African flag.
The Pan-African flag uses red, black, β€οΈπ€πand green to represent global Black unity, liberation, and shared African ancestry.
The Juneteenth flag uses red, white, and blue β€οΈπ€πand includes a centered starburst. It represents the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, a new beginning, a new horizon, and the recognition that Black Americans are an important part of American history and identity.
I hope this explanation helps everyone understand the difference between the Pan-African flag and the Juneteenth flag. Thank you. βπΎ
