We support our members addressing the stark reality Arkansas hospitals - especially our rural facilities - are facing right now. Now is the time to get involved in advocacy efforts to ensure reimbursements are fair and match the cost it takes to provide quality care.

Hundreds of rural hospitals nationwide could close under looming federal cuts, according to new data. That includes 28 in Missouri, 31 in Arkansas and 45 in Oklahoma. Daryle Voss, president of Mercy Southern Oklahoma Communities, is clear about what this would mean for patients and towns that depend on local care. (link below)

Arkansas hospitals are facing an unsustainable financial reality.

More than 40% of our state's hospitals are operating at a loss, forcing agonizing decisions about staffing, clinical education, and vital services like labor and delivery.

The core issue? Reimbursement rates. Arkansas hospitals receive an estimated $8,800 per patient — far behind the nearly $12,000 in Missouri and $14,500 in Oklahoma.

AHA's own Jodiane Tritt explains further and urges us all to take a critical look at how reimbursement rates will continue to impact the future of Arkansas healthcare.

The Arkansas Hospital Association says recent layoffs can be traced to rising costs and slower profits.

The Arkansas Hospital Association successfully hosted two "Stop The Bleed" courses earlier this week, equipping attendees with the critical skills needed to manage life-threatening bleeding. This American College of Surgeons (ACS) program empowers anyone, from community members to healthcare workers, to act quickly and effectively in a serious emergency.

Participants received expert instruction and hands-on practice in three essential techniques: applying direct pressure, properly packing a wound, and correctly applying a tourniquet. These simple, yet powerful, skills can prevent fatal bleeding and save a life when seconds count.

We are proud to champion this lifesaving education across Arkansas.
