Its historic buildings tell the story of Little Rock’s growth in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and bore witness to nationally significant events during the dese

Today, our neighborhood and our city pause to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the unfinished work he challenged all of us to carry forward.

Here in Little Rock, this day carries special meaning. Just steps from our homes stands Central High School, a place that became a national symbol in 1957—where courage, resistance, and progress collided, and where the long arc of justice bent forward because ordinary students and families chose bravery.

Dr. King reminded us that “the time is always right to do what is right.” That message still echoes through our streets, our schools, and our conversations as neighbors.

Today’s City of Little Rock MLK Parade along MLK Boulevard is more than a celebration—it’s an invitation. An invitation to reflect, to show up, to stand together, and to continue building a city rooted in dignity, equity, and mutual respect.

Whether you’re attending the parade, pausing for reflection, or talking with your family about our shared history, thank you for being part of a community that remembers where we’ve been and remains committed to where we’re going—together.
