🌟Rising Grant Spotlight: Community Matters Newton County Arkansas🌟

Community Matters is a countywide network of nonprofit, civic, faith-based, governmental, and volunteer organizations working together to strengthen Newton County. By connecting people, sharing resources, and identifying unmet needs, Community Matters helps ensure that individuals, families, and communities can access the support they need.

Through collaboration and compassionate stewardship, Community Matters coordinates relief efforts, supports disaster preparedness, fosters volunteer engagement, and builds partnerships that maximize local resources. Their work brings together organizations and community members to create practical, local solutions that improve quality of life throughout Newton County.

Wednesday our Philanthropy Club had the opportunity to visit Arisa Health’s Jane Hunt Clinic and learn more about the organization's mission and impact across Arkansas.

Arisa Health serves 41 counties and is Arkansas’ largest behavioral health provider, offering vital mental health and behavioral health services to individuals and families throughout the state. We enjoyed learning more about the challenges facing behavioral health care today and the important work Arisa Health is doing to provide hope, healing, and support to those who need it most.

As we celebrate 50 years of Arkansas Community Foundation, we're looking back at one of the people who helped shape our history: Lugean Chilcote.

A respected Little Rock architect, civic leader, veteran, and dedicated philanthropist, Lugean gave countless hours of service to Arkansas Community Foundation as a board member, treasurer, and advisor. His commitment to strengthening communities and helping others left a lasting mark on our organization and our state. He was also the first recipient of what would become our highest service honor.

In 1985, the Arkansas Community Foundation Board of Directors established the Lugean Chilcote Award to recognize extraordinary service to the Foundation that goes above and beyond ordinary board member responsibilities. The award was named in his honor to recognize the significant contributions he made to the Community Foundation.

Today, the Lugean Chilcote Award continues to celebrate individuals whose dedication, leadership, and service help advance our mission and strengthen communities across Arkansas.
