Meet our Executive Director, Toni Carr and Marian Reich, the Executive Director of Global Ties Detroit during our team's diplomatic visit to Detroit. During the visit, our team members were hosted by the Board Members of Global Ties Detroit and we all had strategic discussions on how to improve our exchange visitors programs, the future of cultural diplomacy and funding in the U.S. Our team members were also taken around the Henry Ford museum in Detroit. Some of our Team Members attended the 'PICKIN' AT PORT' event on Oct 15, 2026. The event was organized by Little Regional Chamber and sponsored by different organizations, including Amazon, Bank OZK and others. Our YLAI 2017 alumna Gaby Sanz was a keynote speaker at the 2da Edicion Congreso Macroregional de Autismo in Piura, Peru, on 15 August.
Although the Congress took place in person at Club Grau in Piura, Gaby joined remotely from the UK. She was the only speaker presenting online, while her fellow speakers shared their expertise in person with attendees in Piura.
Gaby’s presentation is titled:
“The Mental Wellbeing of Parents and Caregivers: The Great Invisible Challenge”
She writes, “Caring for an autistic person can involve love, commitment, advocacy, and ongoing support. It can also bring significant emotional, social, financial, and practical demands. Yet the wellbeing of mothers, fathers, and caregivers often remains overlooked.”
During the presentation, Gaby shared evidence and insights from her doctoral research on caregiver wellbeing: the importance of peer support, respite, accessible support networks, and approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Because caring for those who care is also a form of inclusion.
