Juneteenth.

A day that holds both freedom and the question of what freedom actually costs a people who had to wait for it.

At The Confess Project of America, we think about that legacy often. Our ancestors carried weight they were never given the tools or space to put down. Generations learned to survive in silence because silence was sometimes the only safe option. That survival got us here. But it also taught us patterns we’re still unlearning.

This is why our work in barbershops, salons, and community spaces matters to us so deeply. We believe true freedom includes the freedom to feel, to speak, to heal out loud. Mental health is liberation work. Every conversation we create space for is a small act of finishing what Juneteenth started: making sure freedom isn’t just legal, it’s lived, in our minds, our homes, and our relationships.

Today we honor those who came before us, and we recommit to the ones still healing.

Happy Juneteenth, from our family to yours. 🖤

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and we’re starting it by sharing something that stopped us in our tracks.

This video is a powerful reminder: every man is human. Not a provider, not a protector, not a rock. Human. And humans feel things.

Research shows that people who suppress their emotions increase their risk of premature death by 30%. That number deserves to land.

At The Confess Project of America, we’re building spaces where men don’t have to suppress anything. The barbershop. The circle. The conversation. That’s where healing starts.

The first ten. A decade of change.

It started in the barbershop.

Because the barbershop is where community breathes. Where people laugh, grieve, celebrate, and tell the truth. We knew if we could bring mental health advocacy there, we could change everything.

And then something happened.

The stylists said: we need this too.
The grooming industry said: we need this too.
Service professionals across the country said: we need this too.

So we grew. From the barber chair to the salon chair. From the salon to the full service industry. Wherever people gather in trust; that's where TCPA shows up.

Ten years. 65+ markets. 6000+ certified advocates. 6 million+ people reached.

One decade of proof that healing belongs everywhere community does.

This is just the beginning. Help us carry it forward. https://theconfessprojectofamerica.givingfuel.com/igniting-mental-health-champions

It starts with a conversation.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and while we’ve been quieter online, the work has never stopped.
Lately, our timelines have been heavy. The headlines have been hard to read. And while we won’t reduce every tragedy to a single cause, we do believe that so many of these moments point to something we all share responsibility for: seeing someone struggle and not knowing what to say. Or saying nothing at all.
Checking in is not a small thing.
It might be everything.
This week, we’re on the ground facilitating a community mental health advocacy training with Memorial Health System memorialhealthil in Springfield, IL.
We also have trainings coming up for residents in and , GA and we want YOU there.
At The Confess Project of America, mental health advocacy isn’t a moment. It’s the mission. Across 65+ markets, we’re meeting people where they are in barbershops, salons, schools, and trusted community spaces and giving them the tools to show up for the people around them.
Today, we also want to honor everyone who is quietly doing the hard work. The ones in therapy. The ones setting boundaries. The ones who said “I’m not okay” out loud for the first time. That courage matters and it ripples further than you know.
This month, check in on someone. Start the conversation. And if you’re ready to go deeper, get trained.

Black history is not only something we remember.
It’s something we experience every day.

Today, we’re honoring essential workers.
The ones supporting stability under pressure.
The ones who keep showing up when systems are stretched and resources are thin.

Their work holds families, neighborhoods, and entire communities together.

Tag an essential worker whose labor, care, or consistency you consider Black history in the making.
Tell us who they are and how they support others.

We see you.

Black history is not only something we remember.
It’s something we experience every day.

Today, we’re honoring barbers and stylists.
The trusted listeners.
The culture keepers.
The ones holding space long before it had a name.

Tag a barber or stylist whose work you consider Black history in the making.
Tell us who they are and why their presence matters.

We’re honoring contribution, care, and community.

Gratitude looks different for everyone today. Some of us are celebrating. Some of us are surviving. All of it counts. At The Confess Project of America, we give thanks for our community, for vulnerability, and for the simple but powerful act of checking on one another. If today feels heavy, you matter just as much as anyone at the table. We are grateful for you. Always.

Thank you for being part of this movement.
Thank you for supporting our advocates.
Thank you for believing in community mental health.

Your support has helped train thousands of everyday leaders to show up for their communities in ways that matter. We feel the impact every day.

With gratitude.

Too often, men are expected to stay silent, stay strong, and “handle it.”
But the truth is: everyone needs a space to feel seen and heard.

Start with a simple check-in.
Ask, “How are you—really?”
Then hold space without trying to fix.
Because presence is powerful.
