From NiT, Rhonda:

“Fourche Creek clean up this morning at Interstate Park with Nancy Wyatt! When the rain comes so does the trash. I’m so glad to be involved in Master Naturalist training which got me connected to other like minded people ♥️🌎 !

Trash travels from
Fourche Creek to
AR River to
Mississippi River to
Gulf of Mexico

Fourche Creek is a significant urban tributary of the Arkansas River that flows through Little Rock, Arkansas, draining about 73% of the city's runoff through its watershed, which includes major tributaries like Rock Creek, Brodie Creek, and Otter Creek.

Location: Flows through Little Rock, Arkansas, and empties into the Arkansas River.
Watershed: Covers 90,000 acres, with 98% of Little Rock within it.
Major tributaries: Includes Fourche Bayou, Rock Creek, Otter Creek, Brodie Creek, Crooked Creek, and Panther Creek.
Urban impact: Development has increased flash flooding, but the creek still supports significant biodiversity, including bald cypress trees, fish, and migratory birds.
Restoration efforts: Audubon Arkansas and other partners are working on projects for environmental restoration, flood risk management, and pollution reduction, with infrastructure improvements planned by the city.”
