Arkansas Community Action Agencies Association - ACAAA The state association of community action agencies in Arkansas. Helping people. Changing lives.

06/12/2026

Today, ACAAA Executive Director Tomekia Moore had the opportunity to visit with Senator Tom Cotton's office to discuss the importance of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) and its impact on communities across Arkansas.

The conversation centered on how CSBG serves as a critical resource in helping local Community Action Agencies address the root causes of poverty while strengthening pathways to economic mobility, family stability, and community resilience. Through the Community Action Network, CSBG funding helps empower local communities by supporting programs and services that respond directly to the unique needs of Arkansas families.

With Community Action agencies serving all 75 counties across our state, it is important that policymakers understand both the challenges facing Arkansas families and the opportunities that exist when communities are equipped with the resources to lead local solutions.

We appreciate the opportunity to share the story of Community Action, highlight the impact of CSBG investments, and continue building relationships that support stronger, healthier, and more prosperous communities throughout Arkansas.

🌐 Advancing Digital Opportunity Across Arkansas

Arkansas Community Action Agencies Association (ACAAA) is proud to share an update on our engagement as a member of the inaugural Connectivity Policy Corps Cohort, led by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance.

As conversations across the nation increasingly focus on AI and the future of workforce, we recognize that meaningful participation in these opportunities begins with addressing foundational challenges. Before we can fully engage in AI-driven innovation, we must first ensure that Arkansans have access to the essential building blocks of digital opportunity: Accessibility, Affordability, and Digital Skills.

For many families and communities, the digital divide remains a barrier to employment, education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and economic mobility. That is why this work is so important—not just for today, but for Arkansas' long-term competitiveness and prosperity.

As part of our participation in the Connectivity Policy Corps, we are phasing our work across several strategic priorities:

✅ Aligning digital opportunity efforts with the Arkansas Pathways to Self-Sufficiency Initiative, ensuring that technology access and digital skills become key components of economic mobility and family well-being.

✅ Advocating for the strategic deployment of available broadband and digital opportunity resources across Arkansas communities served by the Community Action Network and our many partners and stakeholders.

✅ Working to develop and finalize a statewide engagement plan that compliments the efforts of the Arkansas State Broadband Office, helping ensure local voices and community-based organizations are part of the conversation.

Community Action has always been about creating pathways of opportunity. In today's world, digital connectivity is no longer a luxury—it is essential infrastructure for success. We are excited to help shape policies and partnerships that expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and ensure that every Arkansan has the tools needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving economy.

Together, we are building a more connected and more prosperous Arkansas for all.
