Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Class of 2014 inductee Bobby Rush brought his unmistakable blues sound to the national spotlight with a special performance of “I Lied to You” from the film Sinners during the Academy Awards. His smooth, soulful harmonica could be heard throughout the electrifying performance, reminding the world why he remains one of the great voices of the blues.

The Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation proudly presents the Distinguished Laureate Lecture Series XV featuring Dr. Kathryn Hall-Trujillo, Ph.D., Class of 2011 — internationally recognized public health advocate and founder of Birthing Project USA.

Affectionately known as “Mama Katt,” Dr. Hall-Trujillo was born in Moscow, Arkansas, and rose from humble beginnings to become a global champion for Black maternal and infant health. Through Birthing Project USA — often called The Underground Railroad for New Life — she has helped improve outcomes for more than 12,000 babies across the United States and beyond by pairing expectant mothers with “sister friends” for guidance and support.
