Jane DeDecker’s Every Word We Utter, the centerpiece of a Nineteenth Amendment plaza inside the Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden. The sculpture was dedicated in October 2019 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Arkansas adopting the 19th Amendment.

DeDecker’s sculpture features key national leaders in the Women’s Suffrage movements as well as two Arkansas women who played important roles: Josephine Miller Brown and Bernie Babcock.

The sculpture is based on the concept of a drop of water not only causing ripples but also rising up again after its impact with the surface. The women are presented in a series of levels, each building on the work done by previous generations. The names of other courageous Arkansas women who were part of the decades-long women’s suffrage effort are engraved on the base of the sculpture.

We are excited to share our newest sculpture - Mark Leichliter's LOCAL COLOR, which was installed on January 31 on Pleasant Valley Drive, near North Rodney Parham.

Standing approximately 9.25 feet tall, with a wingspan of approximately 8.75 feet, this stainless steel sculpture depicts a Diana Fritillary butterfly, which is the State Butterfly of Arkansas. On one side, it showcases the male of the species (gold) and on the other side, it depicts the female (blue).

This piece was the winner of Sculpture at the River Market's 2021 annual Public Monument competition. Mark is a member of the National Sculptors' Guild and has several pieces in Little Rock, as well as throughout North America.

This is our first installation in Ward 4. Though our name is Sculpture at the River Market, we are committed to the promotion of, and installation of, sculpture throughout Little Rock.

Happy Independence Day! The first sculpture we dedicated in Little Rock was Sandy Scott’s Eagle of the Rock.

(We dedicated several on the same day in November 2004, but this was the first one dedicated that day.)

Since 2020, it has sat in the grounds of the Clinton Presidential Center.

Today we dedicated Hunter Brown’s “Helios” sculpture in downtown Little Rock at Capitol Avenue and Main Street.

In discussing the piece, Hunter said “There’s nothing like sharing your creation with your community.”

The sculpture is named after the Sun god. Just as the Sun is the center of our solar system, the sculpture’s location is the center of Downtown Little Rock, and the entire state.

We are grateful for the donors to Sculpture at the River Market. Their generosity is what makes projects like this possible.

The sculpture was installed in 2009 as one of the original sculptures in the Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden. The sculpture, made of bronze, depicts a horse mid-canter standing tall with head erect and tail proudly raised.

Woods creates sculptures of a variety of subjects (including doing the bust of President Clinton which is on the grounds of the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion) but is perhaps best known for her equine sculptures.
