Congratulations to Nicki, our Monroe Employee of the Month! Nicki is a valued member of the City of Faith team who brings compassion, determination, and a sincere commitment to helping residents succeed both during the program and after they leave.
What Nicki enjoys most is knowing she can help residents get their lives back on track. For her, the greatest reward is seeing someone succeed and knowing she played a part in that journey.
One accomplishment that stands out involved a resident who was ready to give up after facing a difficult situation. Nicki refused to let him quit. Through months of calls, paperwork, emails, and trips to the DMV, she helped him prove his identity had been stolen and recover his driver’s license. Seeing him succeed made every effort worthwhile.
Nicki supports her team by sharing ideas, offering input when challenges come up, showing up when needed, and always being willing to lend a helping hand.
Her City of Faith journey began when Ms. Phillis, the kitchen manager, gave her an opportunity to work in the kitchen. Since then, Nicki has grown into a valued part of the organization. She also credits City of Faith founder Ms. Kathy as an inspiration, based on stories of her kindness, gentleness, trustworthiness, and accountability.
One of the biggest lessons Nicki has learned is to never take anything for granted, stay grounded, live by the core values, and remain true to herself and her team.
Outside of work, Nicki enjoys fishing, swimming, and relaxing with family while watching movies. She loves romance novels, enjoys Landman and Everybody Loves Raymond, and keeps fruity chews like Mambas and peppermint candies nearby at work.
If she could have any superpower, Nicki would choose the ability to breathe underwater like a mermaid.
Nicki’s advice for new team members:
