And I don’t want to put myself around a lot of people to teach me what they’ve been doing their whole life. So, now I sleep outside because…I don’t want to be that person and I don’t want to learn the ways that they’re gonna teach me.” - Arkansas youth

On any given night last year more than 100 youth in central Arkansas were sleeping on the streets, couch surfing, or in an adult shelter. This is a statistic we are determined to change.

Baltimore has launched a program allowing eligible residents to purchase city-owned vacant homes for as little as $1 to tackle its over 13,500 vacant properties. The Fixed Pricing Program requires applicants to demonstrate they have at least $90,000 for renovations and pass a vetting process that includes financial and criminal background checks.

Developers and larger nonprofits must pay $3,000 per home, while smaller nonprofits pay $1,000. The city is giving local residents a 90-day priority buying period to encourage community participation.
