We’re serious… 🍎

Nutrition access in rural Arkansas has high barriers, but unexpected partnerships are changing that!

Rural churches have traditionally used food pantries to fill the hunger gap in their communities. However, statistics show overwhelmingly that it’s not enough to combat increasing numbers of Arkansans with diet-related conditions…

Here’s where Nashville FUMC comes in! The church is located in Howard County which is 16.7% food insecure (above the national average).

We’ve partnered with the church to provide a monthly fresh grocery market for free! Community members take home 20 lbs of groceries to boost their monthly nutrition.

Paying for groceries each month can be daunting for families struggling to pay bills. It’s even more daunting to pay the extra price for healthy food.

It’s BOTH of those AND…

Families struggle to live a healthy lifestyle due to factors like economic conditions, living far from a grocery store with whole foods, lack of education and empowerment to cook and eat nutritiously, and more!

We partnered with American Heart Association - Arkansas and Bank OZK to provide access to nutrition and resources for these families!

AHA provides the grant and a great heart healthy resource for the boxes and Bank OZK packed it all up for delivery!

Thank you to both organizations for your commitment to healthy food access and education!

Healthy food shouldn’t depend on where you live. 🍎

Nearly 1 in 4 census tracts in Arkansas have low income and low food access. It’s normal for families in rural communities like Plumerville to go without fresh fruits and vegetables.

Well Fed is changing that. We’re focused on improving nutrition security and long-term health in these communities.
