We are looking for entries from our membership for the Southwestern, SWPA's triannual newsletter. Entries are typically between 500 and 1000 words and may be about any professional topic you think the membership may find of interest. Tell folks about your research. Address current field-related issues. If you think the membership may find it of note, write something up. Note that the editor and the EC will make editorial decisions and edits. But if you're interested in writing something up or have any questions, reach out to our newsletter editor at [email protected]. The deadline for the Summer 2026 issue is Monday, July 20th. We hope to hear from you!

We are pleased to announce that we are expanding Continuing Education opportunities for our licensed members. This year, several presentations will be designated as CE presentations in the program. Professional Members who would like to earn CE credits for attending these presentations will pay a single rate to attend all CE presentations and sign in at each CE presentation they attend. After the conference, certificates will be emailed to attendees for each CE presentation they attend. SWPA will attempt to schedule CE presentations such that Professional Members seeking CE credits can earn at least 12 CE hours, though the exact number will depend upon final submissions of workshops and talks. Please verify whether your state board will honor CE hours earned in this manner. None of the CE presentations offered at SWPA are pre-verified with state licensure boards.

For our student members, perhaps you're wonder what CE's are.
~>Psychology continuing education (CE) is a series of formal learning activities that help psychologists keep up with current research and professional standards. It's an ongoing process that helps psychologists maintain and improve their skills.

Why is CE important?
~>CE helps psychologists provide the best care for their clients.
~>CE helps psychologists stay current with the latest scientific evidence, legal issues, and best practices.
~>CE helps psychologists maintain their licenses and meet professional standards.
