In this sixth volume of THE NINETEENTH, I’m celebrating being named Artist of the Year by Mosaic Templars Cultural Center (MTCC). I’m also thanking the sponsors for my upcoming exhibition IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS. The opening reception will be on March 27th at MTCC, marking the 101st cosmic birthday of my late father, Attorney Christopher C. Mercer, Jr.

In this fourth volume of THE NINETEENTH, it is a personal conversation with Black hair, braids specifically, as the ED and Found(her) of A BLACK SPACE, I navigate a road from bullied to beautiful with my curly coif. THE NINETEENTH: VOLUME TWO

In this second volume of THE NINETEENTH, our ED and Found(her) CC Mercer Watson takes us on a personal journey of her grief and remembrance in honor of relatives that have crossed over. Both prose and poetry will journey you through her closeness with her late father, Attorney Christopher C. Mercer, Jr., and her loved ones that have recently passed. Her call to action are donations for a headstone for her father, who passed 12 years ago, and relief for the burials that have taken place in the last month with unexpected deaths. Burials are Black spaces, too. Healing comes in community, we are one.
