Making the wrong right isn’t about pretending it never happened, it’s about owning it, learning from it, and choosing to grow beyond it.

At Commitment to Change, we believe that your past does not define your future. Every mistake carries a lesson, and every setback can become a setup for something better. Accountability takes courage. Change takes commitment. But transformation, that takes both.

If you’ve ever made a wrong decision, know this: you still have the power to make things right. Start where you are. Do better. Be better. And keep moving forward.

Google says "Arkansas has one of the highest incarceration rates in the U.S., ranking 3rd to 5th nationwide with approximately 912–942 people per 100,000 behind bars, exceeding most nations. The state faces a major overcrowding crisis, with over 27,000 people incarcerated and a, projected growth of 3,500 more by 2032, largely driven by high recidivism and technical violations. "

How do we change this?
Let’s begin by implementing rehabilitation programs that support individuals through personal change; mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, so they can successfully reintegrate into society. These programs should be STAFFED by people who GENUINELY CARE about those They SERVE, Their COMMUNITIES, and the Success of the Program.

Let's talk about it:

Mass incarceration continues to rise as the number of individuals housed within the correctional system steadily grows. Policies and laws have increasingly shifted toward longer sentences, placing less emphasis on reducing recidivism and expanding opportunities for successful rehabilitation.

Gun violence continues to affect communities and claim lives. At the same time, laws that allow permitless open and concealed carry for adults 21 and older have had a ripple effect in our communities, including easier access to fi****ms for underage individuals and more families grieving losses that never should have happened.

Drug addiction is tearing families apart, taking lives, and damaging the mental and emotional well-being of countless individuals. Yet funding for treatment and prevention continues to be reduced, and services are often concentrated in select areas excluding communities that are needing it the most.

What these issues have in common is that they impact communities affected by poverty, areas that lack consistent attention, adequate funding, and meaningful resources. More than just financial support, these communities are missing access to personal development, education, mental health services, and long-term support systems.

So the question remains: what do we do?

✨ Be honest—what are you letting go of in this season?
Growth often asks us to release habits, mindsets, or relationships that no longer serve who we’re becoming.

At Commitment to Change, we believe healing happens when safe spaces meet intentional growth.

Growth requires honesty.
Sometimes healing means admitting that the old version of you can’t go where you’re headed next. Change isn’t always comfortable, but it is necessary.

If you’re in a season of transition, give yourself grace. You’re not lost, you’re evolving.

✨ Stay committed to the work. Stay committed to yourself.

🌱 Tip for Growth & Healing 🌱

Healing and personal growth are journeys, not destinations. One small step each day can make a big difference. Try this simple practice:

Reflect, Release, & Reset:
1️⃣ Reflect – Take 5 minutes to think about one thing you accomplished today, no matter how small.
2️⃣ Release – Let go of any negative thoughts or setbacks. They don’t define you.
3️⃣ Reset – Set one positive intention for tomorrow, even if it’s just “I will breathe and stay present.”

Remember, every step forward is progress. You are capable of growth, healing, and thriving. 💙

Mass Incarceration: States Leading the Crisis

The United States has the largest number of people in prison in the world, with over 2 million behind bars. Some states have even higher rates of incarceration than others. As of 2024, the states with the highest incarceration rates per 100,000 residents are:

Louisiana – 775 per 100,000

Mississippi – 859 per 100,000

Arkansas – 743 per 100,000

Together, we can build a system that heals, restores, and offers hope for a better future. Keep believing, better days are ahead.
