Foster Care Awareness Month may be ending, but the need for caring homes and community support continues.

When we care for children in our communities, kids can stay connected to the people, places, and routines that help them feel safe and grounded. That stability not only reduces trauma for children, but strengthens families, schools, and communities by preserving the relationships and support systems that help everyone thrive.

There is a place for you to not only be a beautiful part of a child’s story, but create impact that lasts for generations.

If something this month stayed with you, don’t ignore it.

Awareness is where it starts. What comes next is what matters. Link bio to learn more! ✨

Every child in foster care has a story.

Not one that needs to be fixed—but one that needs to be supported with care and consistency.

Foster care isn’t about replacing a story or replacing a family.

It’s about stepping into a small part of it and helping create stability along the way.

If this sits with you, there’s space for you here: everychildarkansas.org 💚

One of the biggest fears people have about foster care is: “How could I say goodbye?”

And the truth is, saying goodbye can be hard. Because attachment is real. Love is real. Connection matters.

But that’s also the point.

Children in foster care deserve safe adults who care deeply about them while they’re in transition. If you don’t get attached, you’re probably not doing it right.

Foster care isn’t about avoiding heartbreak; it’s about showing up anyway, knowing that even temporary love and stability can change a child’s life forever. 💛

Foster care can feel like something “other people” do. People often rule themselves out—thinking they’re too busy, don’t have enough space, aren’t married, don’t own a home, don’t have kids, or wouldn’t know where to start.

But the reality is—you may be exactly what a child needs, and it takes more than just foster families. It takes a community.

Some people foster (even those who didn’t think they could at first).
Some volunteer.
Some mentor teens.
Some donate, advocate, or simply show up consistently.

Every role matters. Because when one individual/family says “yes”, they shouldn’t have to do it alone.

You don’t have to do everything, just something. Find your place at everychildarkansas.org.💚

Did you know the greatest needs in foster care are for homes that can support...

• Teens
• Sibling groups who benefit from staying together
• Children with medical or unique support needs
• Children who benefit from culturally connected care

These children deserve the same stability, belonging, and opportunity as anyone else. But when there aren’t enough families aware of these needs or prepared to step in, waits for placement can be longer.

Awareness helps communities respond where support is needed most.

Learn how you can be part of the solution—through fostering, mentoring, or supporting families who say yes.

Maybe foster care has felt like something meant for “other people.”
People with more time, more space, more experience, more certainty.

But caring for children and families takes more than foster parents alone — it takes a community willing to show up in different ways.

Maybe your “yes” looks like fostering.
Maybe it looks like mentoring, volunteering, donating, advocating, or simply being consistent support for someone carrying a heavy load.

Every role matters. Every act of support matters.

You don’t have to do everything — just something. 🤍

Why is it so important for children in foster care to be placed in a home and family setting?

Kids don’t just need a place to go. They need people. People who can provide personalized, consistent, and human care.

When children are placed in home and family settings vs congregate care, they experience:

✔️ Stronger attachment and emotional safety through consistent, caring adult relationships.
✔️More stability and permanency with fewer moves and better chances of lifelong family connections.
✔️Better mental and behavioral health outcomes than institutional settings.
✔️Normal childhood routines like school consistency, community, and family life.
✔️Reduced risk of further trauma with individualized care and safer environments.
✔️Stronger long-term outcomes including education, independence, and overall well-being.

Every child deserves this kind of care, stability, and belonging. Learn how you can support children in foster care—whether by fostering, volunteering, or advocating today. 💚

Most people don't fully understand foster care...

Foster care exists to provide temporary care for a child during difficult circumstances that make it unsafe or impossible for them to remain at home for a period of time. These situations can include things like neglect, abuse, parental substance use, mental health crises, incarceration, housing instability, domestic violence, medical emergencies, or the loss of a caregiver. The goal of foster care is to keep children safe while families receive the support and resources needed to work toward stability whenever possible.

But for a child, it can feel like everything changes at once, especially if being placed with kin/family isn’t an option.

New home.
New people.
New routines.

They miss little things that are familiar to them. It can be a confusing and unsettling experience for a child. And while many people are working really hard to support these children, there’s still a need for more stable, consistent home environments that can welcome a child in and create a sense of grounding for them during a difficult time. Because they deserve this.

Understanding this is the first step. Visit everychildarkansas.org to learn more.

It's Foster Care Awareness Month 💚

Every child deserves to feel safe and cared for. For some children, foster care becomes part of their story, often without warning.

It can mean new environments, new routines, and a lot of change all at once.

What doesn’t change is what kids need most:
consistency, care, and connection.

This month, we’re sharing more about what foster care really looks like, why family settings matter, and how our community can show up in meaningful ways. ✨

Parenting… but with teens. 💛

Fostering teens isn’t about doing it all perfectly; it’s about showing up and believing in them. Watching shows together. Laughing over TikToks. Late-night snacks. Listening. Trusting. Learning.

Teens bring their own personalities, humor, and perspective, and being part of their journey is unforgettable. Every moment counts, every conversation matters, and the impact lasts a lifetime. ✨
