“Right to Work” laws are often framed as an individual choice.

But for us, the consequences are collective.

Cheap labor weakens unions. When unions get weaker, so do labor standards.

That affects training, pay, safety procedures, job site accountability, and our ability to speak up when something isn’t right.

This is not a political issue.

This is a health and safety issue for every Laborer, every crew, and every family waiting for their loved one to come home at the end of the day.

Protecting union standards means protecting our brothers and sisters on the job.

Keep Minnesota Union Strong 💪

The job is far from done.

We are proud that Laborers have helped make drinking water safer for Minnesotans, and we’re ready to keep going.

There is no safe level of lead exposure. Laborers are standing by, ready to eliminate this serious public health threat.

We’re calling on state leaders to map and fund the replacement of all lead water pipes by 2033.

We are trained and willing to finish the job.

Happy Charter Anniversary to our brothers and sisters in LIUNA Local 1091!

Local 1091 serves over 1000 members in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Kanabec, Lake, Mille Lacs, Pine, and Southern St. Louis counties, and in Wisconsin in Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties.

Since the start of 2026, Local 1091 has also welcomed three new signatory contractors, which means that even more workers in Northern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin have access to LIUNA’s family-sustaining wages and benefits. 🙌

The days might be long, and the weather might be cold, but Local 1091 never stops building the North. ❄️ 💪
