Providing free events, programs, and services for all community members is at the core of our mission. A vital component of our mission is that everyone who attends our events feels safe and welcomed. We are saddened to share that, for the first time in LCCL’s history, we’ve asked an individual to stop participating in our events and utilizing our facilities. We value transparency and believe it is important that the community be informed of our difficult decision.
While we cannot reveal the identity of this individual or the community members impacted by this individual’s behavior, we will share some examples of their actions that led to our decision:
•Confronting community members and volunteers at their place of employment or in public while not at LCCL events, demanding that they cease association with LCCL;
•Sending messages to community members and volunteers who otherwise do not know this individual, insisting that they remove positive posts about LCCL
•Yelling at and intimidating staff members during LCCL events and at the LCCL Resource Center;
•Sending an unreasonable amount of unsolicited and consecutive messages to friends of a staff member about said staff member;
•Confronting attendees at Lititz Pride, demanding that they publicly speak out against LCCL and becoming hostile if the confronted community member refused;
•Going from community member to community member at the Pride Picnic to make disparaging claims about a staff member, including making these unsolicited statements to an elementary school-aged relative of said staff member;
•Intentionally deadnaming a community member who disagreed with them
We consider this individual’s behavior unacceptable and a clear violation of our published Code of Conduct, which describes community guidelines against bullying, intimidation, and harassment, found here (https://lancasterchooseslove.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/LCCL-Attendee-Code-of-Conduct.pdf).
We have received increased complaints from community members about this individual over the past month, and this is a pattern we’ve seen repeated over this past year. We are also concerned that other impacted community members have not yet reached out to us. If you have experienced hostility from anyone at LCCL events or due to a connection with LCCL, please notify the board by emailing [email protected].
If you have any questions or concerns about LCCL based on information you’ve heard from sources other than LCCL, please let us know. We are happy to both share accurate information and make changes to address genuine concerns.
We have clarified with this individual that they are permitted to utilize the LCCL food pantry services through an approved proxy and that they may continue to apply for and be considered for mutual aid assistance in accordance with our regular application process and eligibility requirements. If they respect the boundaries we've put forth, we do not receive any additional complaints from volunteers or community members regarding behavior they describe as harassment or intimidation, and they commit to no longer engaging in such behavior, we will consider changing these restrictions at a later time.
If you know (or suspect you know) this individual’s identity, we ask you not to share it. We will delete any comments on this post that speculate as to their identity or the identities of any of the individuals harassed or bullied by this individual. Above all else, we ask you not to harass or otherwise be hostile toward this individual or people who you think may have been impacted by their behavior. The solution to harassment is not more harassment. We made this statement public because we know this individual’s actions have likely impacted more people than we know about. If you haven’t been personally affected, we ask you to respect the privacy of those who were and this individual themself.
