St. Patrick's Cathedral "Remember
and Rejoice" Ceremony on Saturday, March 29, 3:30 PM

TRIO's "Remember and Rejoice" ceremony will be held this coming Saturday, March 29 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City at 3:30 PM.

More than 25 years ago, the Manhattan chapter of TRIO set out to create a ceremony for recipients, families, and friends so that they could acknowledge the gift of life that they received and to express their appreciation to organ donors. The ceremony, “Remember and Rejoice” has grown into an annual event held each Spring that has become very important and meaningful to donor families who come to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City for this ecumenical service. The event is open to all.

The program will continue the legacy of thankfulness for the miracles of organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplantation. There will be remarks by organ donor family members as well as recipients. The Ceremony also includes a candlelighting and a distribution of white roses to the donor families along with several musical selections. The event is open to all TRIO members and the general public.

Anyone is invited to attend this free event this coming Saturday, starting at 3:30 PM. to honor organ donation and those who make this altruistic gift. St. Patrick's Cathedral is located at 5th Ave between 50th/51st Streets in New York City.

If you cannot attend "Remember and Rejoice" in person, it will be livestreamed on YouTube. Click the button below on Saturday to watch.

Chucker is still seeing the world through his recipient. Thank you for sharing him with a needy stranger.

"My husband tragically died in August 2020 when he was hit by a drunk driver. Chucker was a kind and caring man who was always willing to help others. He was a registered donor. I was grateful to be able to honor his request to donate whatever could be donated, which were his corneas. This is a blessing knowing he was able to provide sight to someone else.

I try to advocate for organ donation every time I share my story because I hope to lead others to be a donor." - Susan

Dear Melissa,
Please accept our deep condolences for your loss of Michael. Your altruistic sharing of him with sick strangers is so kind and generous. Especially that you made the decision during a very painful time in your life. Please know that all recipients keep donor families in our daily thoughts and prayers.
God Bless!

"My husband, Michael, was taken from us too soon in September of 2020 at the age of 40. He was a one-of-a-kind husband. He was the kind of person to give the shirt off his back and shoes off his feet to someone in need. Or to help if someone was broke down on the side of the road. He was always making everyone around him smile and laugh.

Through the gift of donation, he was able to donate his kidneys, liver, and lungs. Along with tissue, bone, and skin. He has helped over 180 people across 13 states with the donation of life. And it has given us a peace of mind knowing he is still out there helping so many lives 💙💚. We miss you and love you to the moon and back, Michael." - Melissa F.

Dear Joel,
We cannot imagine your pain when you lost your child, Cale. The fact that you were able to think of sick strangers while in heartbreak, is amazing. TY for being so special.

“Losing our son, Cale, was the hardest thing ever, but it was an easy decision to make him an organ donor. We didn’t want another family to have to go through what we went through. It’s really helped us all by knowing he could save lives by becoming a donor.” - Joel F.

“I admire ORGAN DONORS. They are the savior and giver of life. I am a transplant recipient. I was on dialysis for 6-1/2 years before I got a call at UCSF for the transplant. My surgery happened in April 2024.

I was very thankful to God and my donor for giving me a chance to extend my life. Being patient, having faith in God, good friends who were there for support, and prayers (very powerful), helped me a lot to not give up but strengthened my hope that things will get better soon. And God answered my prayers at the right time. Every day I thank Him and my donor for my second life.” - Theresa S.

I'd like to share a poem I wrote, about my 6-year-old son who was an organ donor:

Though I was only 6 and a half.

I lived life to the fullest, with every breath I had.

I loved ramping my bike and playing in the dirt.

But my most favorite thing to do was help people when they were hurt.

When I heard God tell me a 4-year-old needed my heart, that was it.

I said, "God, what other body parts could I give to help these other people live?"

God said, "we could use your liver and each of your kidneys."

"And I'll give someone the bright idea to call it Linkin's Legacy."

"I'll paint you in the clouds and they'll hear your laugh in the breeze. They'll even think of you when they see fish in the creek."

"Your life will still live on in four other people, therefore, you're really not gone."

"You see child, we play all day in heaven and there's nothing but peace. Don't worry about your family, I will help them with their grief."

At that point God convinced me, heaven was the best place. I wanted to give people the breaths I couldn't take.

So even though you're going to miss me, know my life lives on.

My name is Linkin Wideman

I AM LEGENDARY.

I AM AN ORGAN DONOR.

I AM STRONG.

"I lost my son on April 25th, just one month shy of his 34th birthday. He was a donor, and they were able to use all of his gifts! A part of him lives on through others!

We love our motorcycles, so we are having a tribute bike done in his honor to help raise awareness for organ donation."

Adam continues to be a loving soul in the daily lives of his recipients. Thank you for sharing Adam!!

"Adam donated his heart, liver and kidneys on March 17, 2024, after a terrible accident left him brain dead. He was 31 years old and left behind three young children: Chloe, Ryan and Jaxson. He was a loving person and loved to make everyone smile. You would always end the day with at least a few laughs when he was around.

He cared deeply for his loved ones. He loved video games, watching movies from the early 2000s, spending time with his children, cooking, watching anime, hanging out with his family and going to the beach. My comfort now is that he lives on through those impacted by his gift, and I hope families impacted by his donations get many years with their loved ones that we sadly did not." - Maranda
