Last night, we celebrated the charter of the Kiwanis Club of Litchfield surrounded by local community members, city officials, and fellow Kiwaniians from Kiwanis Club of Downtown Springfield, our sponsoring club Maryville Kiwanis, and neighboring state districts.
Tim Eggleston, Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Lieutenant Governor, Division 28, graciously led the event as our emcee. Jacob Fleming - Mayor of Litchfield spoke on behalf on the civilian-led accomplishments in the short time since we became organized on January 19, 2026. Taka Ogata, Kiwanis International Membership Chair, presented the members with their pins and certificates and the club President with charter gifts following his remarks to the club. It truly was a pleasure to have them each in attendance and backing our efforts. Additionally, we are also beyond grateful for Kim Groom, I-I District Immediate Past Governor and our Club Coach, for guiding us in the founding process which led to twenty-one charter members being acknowledged for their contributions.
We cannot thank the community for their support thus far and for the generous donations made to our silent auction from local businesses: Team Victory Lane and Chelsea Lapolice Photography.
Last but not least, we are grateful for corporate member, Jessie Blackburn, and her assistant Christine Marietta at Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) for coordinating set-up and allowing us to utilize their space for our event. The food prepared and catered by Graceful Gatherings LLC Catering Company was absolutely delicious, and we were able to drop off some of the leftovers to the local firefighters after the event concluded.
