Our hearts are with the Barbara B. Robey Elementary School family as they mourn the loss of one of their amazing teachers. Mrs. Serena was a LESDEF mini grant recipient. The grant provided science fair display boards for all of her 5th graders, so that no student would miss out on participating for lack of materials. Just one small example of her love for science & her students. She will be greatly missed! 💜💚

Dear Barbara Robey Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of a cherished member of our school family. Mrs. Serena, a beloved fifth-grade teacher, passed away early Friday morning.

This has been an incredibly difficult time for Mrs. Serena’s family, the staff, and the many students whose lives she touched throughout her years at Barbara Robey Elementary. Our Rattler community deeply loved her and her impact on children will never be forgotten.

We will share additional opportunities for remembrance in the coming days. In the meantime, if your child may benefit from support, extra care, or an opportunity for closure, the campus will be open for both current and former students on Tuesday, May 26th. We ask that all students be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their visit. Staff members will be available in the school’s Media Center from 10:00 AM–5:30 PM.

We also have a monitored phone line available at 623-547-1400, where families may leave a message or schedule a future time to speak with our support team.

We appreciate your compassion, grace, and support as we navigate this heartbreaking loss together as a community.
