With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. If you are arriving this summer, we may have a home available for your short-term housing needs. We know options like TLF can be very expensive and an AirBnb for a family of 4 or more, well, that’s typically out of the budget. That’s why we created PCS Homes.

We are working every day to be able to offer more homes for affordable temporary housing, but we need your help making them feel like home for our military families.

We need to fill our homes with furniture so that our families have a comfortable place to stay. If you have something you no longer need, please consider donating to PCS Homes.

1. We partner with homeowners in the community who want to continue to earn equity in their home when they are no longer here to live in it.

2. We work to fill the homes with furniture so those who stay with us have a comfortable place to call home.

3. We offer our homes for short-term rental to military families so that they have an affordable place to stay while they are looking for a home to buy or rent, waiting for their home to be built, or preparing to PCS to their next duty station.

The average cost to make a new home available is $5,000. If you want to support PCS Homes, consider donating to help cover home start-up costs. Any donation of any size helps us be able to take on more homes, helping more military families have a place to rest at night.

When military families relocate, often because of a PCS, it can be hard for them to find housing. On base housing may be unavailable, base temporary housing is usually expensive or may only be allowed for a few days and other short-term renting options, such as AirBnb, are more often than not unaffordable for a whole family for more than a few days at a time. From our experience as military families ourselves, finding a temporary housing solution until we were able to find a new home to call our own was always the most stressful part - and trust, there is a lot to be stressed about when moving across the country, or even around the world. By subleasing through PCS Homes, military homeowners leaving the area have the opportunity to continue to earn equity on their home and pay it forward to other military families who need temporary housing. We created PCS Homes to support military families who are in transition and just need a place to call home until they are able to find their own home.
