💧 Fun Fact Friday! 💧
On May 29, 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first people confirmed to reach the summit of Mount Everest at 11:30 a.m. local time.
Climbers must create their own drinking water by melting snow and ice, making hydration a time- and resource-intensive process. At extreme elevations, liquid water isn’t available in a ready-to-drink form, so every drop must be carefully produced and managed throughout the climb.
It’s a reminder that something as simple as a glass of water can be anything but simple in certain environments. 🧊💧🏔️

💧 Fun Fact Friday! 💧
Water v***r does more than form clouds on Earth. In certain galaxies, it helps create powerful natural “microwave lasers” called megamasers. These form when energy from an active galactic nucleus excites nearby water molecules, causing them to emit amplified microwave radiation.
Because of their precision, scientists use these emissions to study environments around supermassive black holes and measure distances between galaxies, helping improve our understanding of how the universe is structured. 🛰️🌌🔭

Yesterday, the water quality industry showed up where it matters most: Capitol Hill.

Fly-In attendees spent the day in back-to-back meetings across House and Senate offices, making the case for practical, science-based solutions that support better water quality nationwide.

With Healthy H2O Act provisions now passed by the House as part of the 2026 Farm Bill, attention turns to the Senate, and water quality advocates were the ones shaping that conversation in real time.

Thank you to the offices that welcomed us, and to the bipartisan champions of the Healthy H2O Act: Reps. David Rouzer and Chellie Pingree, and Sens. Susan Collins and Tammy Baldwin.

There is no better opportunity all year to put water quality directly in front of the people writing the policy.
