✨ 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆 ✨

Today was the Bridging Ceremony for the DuPage AME Girl Scout Program. There were so many beautiful moments. Four troops of different levels bridged, including Troop 56689.

We are no longer Brownies. We are officially Juniors!

Each girl shared what she loved most about being a Brownie:

✅ Making new friends
✅ Dozin’ with Dinos
✅ Skiing
✅ Earning badges
✅ Having own cookie business
✅ Eating cookies 🤭

Hearing their reflections was a reminder of how much they have grown over the past two years, not just in skills, but in confidence and friendships.

Now they are looking ahead. The next two years as Juniors are already starting to take shape. We are planning a camping trip and beginning to think about working toward the Bronze Award.

✨ 𝗗𝗼𝘇𝗶𝗻’ 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘀! ✨

Last weekend, Troop 56689 had an amazing experience at the Field Museum during Dozin’ with Dinos, an overnight adventure they will not forget.

During this after-hours event, the girls got to:
✅ Explore all of the exhibits
✅ Meet scientists and observe experiments
✅ Dissect owl pellets
✅ Taste bugs 🤢
✅ See unique specimens
✅ Listen to a bedtime story in the theater
✅ Sleep in the exhibit area

It was so much fun and such a great learning experience for everyone.

This opportunity was possible because of everyone who supported our troop by purchasing cookies. Thank you so much for helping make experiences like this happen!

Troop 56689 was proud to participate in the 2026 DuPage AME Girl Scouts Black History Month Program, themed Young Black Female History Makers.

Our troop selected Gabrielle Goodwin, the young innovator and entrepreneur behind GaBBY Bows, to inspire our presentation.

Over the past several weeks, the girls learned about Gabrielle’s journey as a young business owner who created products to solve a problem and build confidence in other girls. They discussed innovation, leadership, and what it means to see a need and take action.

Inspired by Gabrielle, each Brownie designed and created her own handmade hair accessory. The girls proudly wore their creations during the program and shared individual presentations about:

• Loving their hair
• Being inspired by Gabrielle’s creativity and courage
• Embracing confidence and self-love

These girls did sn awesome job. The stood proudly, spoke clearly, and owned the stage. Their preparation, teamwork, and bravery were on full display.

The 2026 program featured five participating troops highlighting young Black women in dance, poetry, literary activism, sports, and entrepreneurship. Brownie Troop 56689 was honored to represent Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

We are incredibly proud of our girls for their hard work, creativity, and confidence. They truly embodied the spirit of young history makers.

✨𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗿. 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁✨

Today, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts from the DuPage AME scouting programs proudly participated in the Annual Martin Luther King Unity Breakfast at Drury Lane.

More than 1,400 people were in attendance, making the morning both powerful and memorable.

The keynote speaker was Dorothy Counts-Scoggins, a civil rights pioneer. In 1957 at the age of 15, she became the first Black student admitted to Harry P. Harding High School, a moment in history that required extraordinary courage and strength.

For our scouts, not only was this the opportunity to participate in a powerful event, it was also an opportunity to:

✅ learn important history through lived experience
✅ understand the importance of standing up for what is right, even when it is difficult
✅ see real examples of courage, strength, and resilience

Experiences like this help connect the values of scouting with real stories that continue to shape our world today.

✨𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝟱𝟲𝟲𝟴𝟵! ✨

In celebration of World Kindness Day, today’s meeting focused on kindness to the community.

✅ The girls assembled 18 Birthday Cake Kits and donated most of them to REACH Food Pantry at DuPage AME Church.

✅ Each girl contributed boxes of her favorite cake and frosting mixes, candles, lemon-lime soda, and sprinkles to complete the kits.

While birthday cakes aren’t a necessity, they do have significance. For families facing food insecurity or limited resources, being unable to provide the “extras” can be discouraging.

We hope that a simple birthday cake topped with sprinkles and candles brings someone a moment of joy in the midst of struggle. Every celebration reminds them that they are special, loved, and valued.

✨ 𝗔 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗮! ✨

Today the girls took a class at 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗮 in Aurora. They painted glass vases and made paper flower bouquets. The activity was so much fun, and their finished pieces were absolutely beautiful. 🎨💐

I particularly enjoyed when I overheard the girls telling each other how beautiful their creations were!

I highly recommend 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗮 for art and STEAM classes for kids. She also offers badge-specific classes for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors.

We’re already looking forward to going back for a 𝗷𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀! 💎✨

✨ 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀! ✨

At our last meeting, our troop worked on the 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗹𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗴𝗲 while making caramel apples. A Household Elf is someone who helps take care of their home and the Earth.

While the girls were gathering, they colored an energy-saving coloring sheet that reminded them to 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 when leaving a room. 💡

✅ 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆. We used a slow cooker to melt the caramel and talked about turning it off and unplugging it once the caramel was ready. We also discussed keeping the refrigerator door closed after taking out apples to save energy.

✅ 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁, 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. We talked about not running the water longer than needed when washing apples and how the same idea applies to washing hands and brushing teeth.

✅ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀. The girls dipped apple slices into caramel and added toppings.

✅ 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗽. With sticky caramel and lots of sprinkles, there was plenty to do. Each girl wiped her space and helped sweep the floor. Working together made cleanup quick and fun.

It was a fun meeting that showed how small choices can make a difference at home and for our planet. 💚

✨ Our Troop’s Year in One Word! ✨

Here’s a (very) late update from our DuPage AME Girl Scouts Opening & Rededication Ceremony held on September 20th! 💚

Each of the 11 troops had the opportunity to share what they enjoyed most from last year and what they’re looking forward to this year. For our troop, we decided to combine our presentation with an Art and Design Badge activity. Each girl chose one word to represent an activity she enjoyed last year and created a colorful paper mosaic featuring that word. 🎨

💚 NOURISH – Feed My Starving Children
💚 DANCE – Girl Scout & Favorite Guy Dance
💚 TECH – iCode
💚 FUN – Trip to Amazing to learn about robotics
💚 POWER – Body confidence activity

And I made one too - PROUD - because I’m so proud of these girls: their hard work, their accomplishments, and their friendships. 💚

✨𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰, 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗙𝘂𝗻 ✨

Today the girls put the final touches on their mosaics for our Opening Ceremony/Rededication Ceremony! They’ve been working hard on them over the last two meetings, and it really showed today.

It was easy to see how much their friendships have blossomed this year:

✅ They goofed off and acted silly

✅ They had little squabbles over glue, paper, and other supplies

✅ They helped each other finish their mosaics and cleaned up together.

✅ Then they goofed off some more. 😂

✨𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽’𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸-𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿!✨

Some of the girls hadn’t seen each other since April, and their excitement was obvious.

We began a project the girls will present at next month’s opening ceremony.

✅ First, each Girl Scout thought about last year’s activities and picked a favorite.
✅ Then she chose one word to describe that activity or the feeling it brought. Some of the words they selected include: nourish, fun, dance, Amazon, and tech.
✅ The girls started to create mosaic art pieces featuring their word.

At the opening ceremony, they will present their art and share the experience behind it. This project is also part of earning the Art and Design badge.

It was an awesome meeting, and I’m looking forward to year 3 of leading Troop 56689! If your 3rd grade girl is interested in joining our troop, we would love to have her.

✨ 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 + 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 + 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿! ✨

Today we held a lasagna service project inspired by the nonprofit We Are Lasagna Love. The girls worked together to make four pans of lasagna, plus salad, Italian bread, and dessert. We donated the meal to the firefighters of Station 55 in Lisle, IL.

This project gave the girls an opportunity to:

✅ Say thank you to the firefighters who helped them earn their First Aid Badge earlier this year
✅ Build and practice their cooking skills
✅ Strengthen their teamwork
✅ Embrace the “leave no trace” mindset and applied it to the kitchen

When we delivered the meal, the firefighters were clearly happy and grateful.
