✨ 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱! ✨

Today’s meeting was all about the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn!

We had two special guests join us: an Ambassador who has earned all three of Girl Scouts’ highest awards: Bronze, Silver, AND Gold, along with her Girl Scout leader/mom. They walked the girls through the Bronze Award process and shared their own experiences and projects.

One of their Bronze Award projects addressed loneliness among elementary school students. Their troop built buddy benches for four elementary schools in Naperville, Bolingbrook, and Belvidere. 💚

For another project, they focused on the importance of hydration and purchased and installed a water bottle filling station at DuPage AME Church, where our troop is based. 💧

By the end of the presentation, our girls were already tossing around preliminary ideas for projects of their own, and they were VERY excited! 😂 I love seeing those wheels start turning.

As a leader, I especially love opportunities for older Girl Scouts to teach and inspire younger Girl Scouts. It gives the girls a glimpse of what they can accomplish now and the opportunities that await them as they continue their Girl Scout journeys.

✨ 𝗔 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿! ✨

On Saturday, our troop participated in the DuPage AME Church Girl Scouts program’s annual Opening Ceremony.

Each of our girls had an opportunity to share something she’s looking forward to this year. Some of their answers included:

🍪 Selling cookies!
🐠 Going to the Shedd Aquarium
🏕️ Camping
⛷️ Skiing

The girls did a great job! Some of them have been with our troop since we were Daisies, and it’s pretty amazing to see how they’ve grown into such confident, eloquent speakers.

It was also inspiring to hear from the girls in the other troops, especially the older Girl Scouts who are working toward or who have already achieved their Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards. Their projects include:

🏠 Supporting people experiencing homelessness
🎗️ Partnering with the American Cancer Society to raise awareness
⛳ Teaching young people how to play golf

I loved hearing about the different things the girls are doing and the ways they’re using their interests and ideas to make a difference in their communities. I also love that some troops are planning college tours.

We’re all excited about the year ahead and all of the adventures it will bring! 💚

✨ 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝘂𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵! ✨

Our troop is based out of DuPage AME Church in Lisle. We’re part of a large Scouting community at DuPage that includes 13 other Girl Scout troops, from Daisies all the way through Ambassadors, as well as Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

This past Sunday was Scout Sunday, and the Scouts had several opportunities to participate in the worship service.

From our troop, Alex and Emma participated.

💚 Alex gave the opening prayer, and it was beautiful!

💚 Emma, along with two other Girl Scouts, gave the welcome. They all were great!

💚 Emma was also one of the Girl Scouts who helped out with the offering.

Pastor C recognized all of the Scouts during the service and even tied Scouting and the importance of “being prepared” into her sermon.

We love Scout Sundays and other opportunities for our Scouts and youth to participate in church services. Whether they’re standing before the congregation to pray, welcoming guests, or serving in another way, these experiences give them opportunities to build their confidence and strengthen their leadership and public speaking skills.

And, of course, it’s always great to see so many Scouts together representing all levels of Scouting! 💚

✨ 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿! ✨

This weekend was our first meeting of the new Girl Scout year! 💚

We kicked things off with a getting to know you activity that gave the girls a chance to get reacquainted after the summer, learn some new things about each other, and get to know the newest member of our troop.

🍪 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀! For the first time since the girls were Daisies, 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘀!👏🏽

Each girl received a certificate and prizes from our Service Unit. We also gave a special shoutout to Alex, our troop’s top cookie seller, who sold 350 boxes! She received a gift card to the Girl Scout Shop. Way to go, Alex! 🥳

🥉 Now that the girls have officially bridged to Juniors, we gave them a brief introduction to the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior can earn. We’ll have a more detailed presentation at a future meeting so the girls can learn more about the process and start thinking about what they might want to do.

⛺ We also talked about some of our plans for the year, including our Opening Ceremony, camping, going to see Hiplet, service projects, our Black History Month program, and more!

Of course, the girls had PLENTY of ideas of their own, which they enthusiastically shouted out. 😂 Their requests included spending the night at the Shedd Aquarium and visiting a petting zoo.

But they had one particularly pressing concern about our upcoming camping trip:

𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗪𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦’𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗦?! 😂

Apparently, this is a very important detail.

We’re looking forward to a fun and adventurous year with Troop 56689! 💚

✨𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝟱𝟲𝟲𝟴𝟵 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗜𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗔 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝘀!✨

This weekend, we participated in the Blend It Like a Boss Mini Masterclass at PureBerry Açaí Bowls in Naperville, and was an awesome experience!

The girls:

⭐ Received a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility
⭐ Learned about the costs of opening and operating a storefront business
⭐ Learned about branding and what makes a business stand out
⭐ Created names for their own açaí bowl businesses
⭐ Designed their own logos
⭐ Built their own delicious açaí bowls and gave them unique names
⭐ Pitched their businesses and bowls to a panel of three judges
⭐ Received awards based on the judges' feedback
⭐ Earned certificates for their participation
⭐ Enjoyed eating their creations!

This was such a fun, hands-on way for the girls to learn about entrepreneurship, creativity, and public speaking. Thank you to owners Dorothy and Neepa for creating such a great experience!

✨ 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆 ✨

Today was the Bridging Ceremony for the DuPage AME Girl Scout Program. There were so many beautiful moments. Four troops of different levels bridged, including Troop 56689.

We are no longer Brownies. We are officially Juniors!

Each girl shared what she loved most about being a Brownie:

✅ Making new friends
✅ Dozin’ with Dinos
✅ Skiing
✅ Earning badges
✅ Having own cookie business
✅ Eating cookies 🤭

Hearing their reflections was a reminder of how much they have grown over the past two years, not just in skills, but in confidence and friendships.

Now they are looking ahead. The next two years as Juniors are already starting to take shape. We are planning a camping trip and beginning to think about working toward the Bronze Award.

✨ 𝗗𝗼𝘇𝗶𝗻’ 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘀! ✨

Last weekend, Troop 56689 had an amazing experience at the Field Museum during Dozin’ with Dinos, an overnight adventure they will not forget.

During this after-hours event, the girls got to:
✅ Explore all of the exhibits
✅ Meet scientists and observe experiments
✅ Dissect owl pellets
✅ Taste bugs 🤢
✅ See unique specimens
✅ Listen to a bedtime story in the theater
✅ Sleep in the exhibit area

It was so much fun and such a great learning experience for everyone.

This opportunity was possible because of everyone who supported our troop by purchasing cookies. Thank you so much for helping make experiences like this happen!

Troop 56689 was proud to participate in the 2026 DuPage AME Girl Scouts Black History Month Program, themed Young Black Female History Makers.

Our troop selected Gabrielle Goodwin, the young innovator and entrepreneur behind GaBBY Bows, to inspire our presentation.

Over the past several weeks, the girls learned about Gabrielle’s journey as a young business owner who created products to solve a problem and build confidence in other girls. They discussed innovation, leadership, and what it means to see a need and take action.

Inspired by Gabrielle, each Brownie designed and created her own handmade hair accessory. The girls proudly wore their creations during the program and shared individual presentations about:

• Loving their hair
• Being inspired by Gabrielle’s creativity and courage
• Embracing confidence and self-love

These girls did sn awesome job. The stood proudly, spoke clearly, and owned the stage. Their preparation, teamwork, and bravery were on full display.

The 2026 program featured five participating troops highlighting young Black women in dance, poetry, literary activism, sports, and entrepreneurship. Brownie Troop 56689 was honored to represent Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

We are incredibly proud of our girls for their hard work, creativity, and confidence. They truly embodied the spirit of young history makers.

Troop 56689 showed up and showed out! 🖤❤️💚
