Please help us welcome Rob Nimmer to the Illinois Chapter Board of Directors. Rob is the President and Owner of Oasis Senior Advisors Chicago North, where he helps older adults and their families find safe, appropriate senior housing, home care, and other essential resources. Through caring for his grandmother and parents, Rob experienced firsthand how overwhelming it can be to navigate the aging journey. That personal experience inspired a passion for helping families confidently navigate the often-complex senior care landscape.

Rob is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). He also serves as Vice President of the Lake/McHenry Chapter of the Illinois Continuity of Care Association, Co-President of the Illinois Chapter of the National Placement and Referral Alliance, and is a member of the Lake County Estate Planning Council.

Originally from Milwaukee, Rob now lives in Vernon Hills, Ill. He has been actively involved with the Alzheimer’s Association since 2014 and serves on the Executive Committee for the Lake County Walk to End Alzheimer's where he has consistently been one of the Walk's top company fundraisers. He also hosts a quarterly fundraising event, Tacos & Tunes, featuring karaoke and all-you-can-eat tacos, which has raised more than $20,000 to support his Walk team. Rob is deeply committed to helping families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias while supporting efforts to advance prevention, treatment, and, ultimately, a cure.

When Ronna Larsen's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she became a caregiver overnight, armed with nothing but an outdated referral list. A call to the Alzheimer's Association 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) was her first real lifeline. It connected her to support groups, respite care and a path forward for her whole family.

Today, Larsen is an Association advocate and volunteer, working to make sure other caregivers find help faster than she did.

Read her story below, featured by the Make It Better Foundation.

If you or someone you know needs support, our Helpline is available 24/7, in more than 200 languages: 800.272.3900.

The Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 Helpline provides support to individuals and families navigating Alzheimer’s disease.
