Joy Meadows Providing community support, family resources, and housing so children impacted by foster care find stability, healing, and joy. Joy Meadows, Inc.

Joy Meadows was born from the passion of families who were serving in foster care and continually felt they could do more, “if only…..” . If only they had more space to take extra children. If only they had more time to get them the help they needed. If only there was a way to keep siblings together. If only they had the resources to find all the services that were out there for these children. If

only they weren’t alone and isolated as they tried to love the abused and neglected. If only there was a way to share joy and community as they fought through the system to pull children out of the cycle of abuse and neglect. If only there was a better way…and God put an idea and dream in their heart of making a better way. Joy Meadows was formed as a 501(c)(3) in 2017. is a non-profit with the mission to “provide families with community support, housing, and resources so that children impacted by foster care can find stability, healing, and joy.”

It is a centralized place for resources to support foster/adoptive families from our many Resource Programs to the Clothing Closet to nature trails to therapy, along with the barn, orchard, garden and community center so that families throughout Kansas and Missouri can be well-supported. Through the Housing Program it will soon be a neighborhood of homes built to house large sibling groups entering into foster care, or to make sure maximum number of children in care have single-family homes to go to. The Joy Meadows Church Network trains and partners with local churches to create foster care ministries and create Care Communities to provide wrap-around support for local foster families. The goal of everything we do at Joy Meadows is to provide joy to the children during their journey, and to the foster and adoptive families who serve them.

If you’re caring for a kid with trauma, walking through a hard season, or holding space for grief that isn’t your own, “always be full of joy” can feel like an impossible command.

Philippians 4:4 doesn’t say “always be joyful.” It says “always be full of joy in the Lord.”
That’s not pressure to perform. It’s an invitation to rest in who He is, even on the numb days.

Swipe through for the shift in perspective that makes real joy possible in the middle of caregiving, trauma, and the realities most people avoid.

Why does a dinner matter to foster care?

Because Circles of Joy isn't just a dinner. It's our annual gala on October 3, where every ticket and every bid at the art auction goes directly toward therapy, animal programs, the Clothing Closet, and the everyday support that holds kids and families steady.

It's an evening of dinner and real stories from the families this work touches, held right on our Linwood Campus.

Over half of kids in Kansas foster care have reunification as the case goal. But foster parents receive structured support from case management and private organizations, while biological parents working toward getting their kids back often navigate it alone.

That imbalance stalls progress, delays permanency, and keeps kids in care longer than they need to be. The average stay in Wyandotte County right now is 32 months, the longest in Kansas.

There's still time — but not much.

Our annual art contest closes August 31, and we don't want a single voice to go unheard.

The theme is simple: I wish you knew…what foster care is to me.

If you're a young person ages 5–19 who's been touched by foster care or adoption, we want to see your perspective—through art, poetry, or photography. There's a story only you can tell, and we're listening.

🎨 Three categories: Art, Poetry, Photography
🏆 $100 cash prize for each winning entry

Families rarely need just one kind of help. They usually need several, all at once, and rarely from the same place.

That's the gap Kansas' first Family Resource Center is closing at our KCK campus. One location. One team. Everything a family impacted by foster care might need, coordinated instead of scattered across agencies.

Seats are limited.

This year's circle is forming now.

Foster care doesn't need more homes. It needs circles: neighbors who bring a meal, caseworkers who stay involved, volunteers who show up again and again, donors who make it all possible.

Circles of Joy is our gathering on the ground where that work happens: an evening of dinner, stories, and art on the Joy Meadows property, raising funds for the programs that hold children and families steady.

Save the date: Saturday, October 3, 6:00 PM at our Linwood Campus.

Tickets are $100 and available through September 26, while seats last.

Here's what we're building toward: Joy Multiplied, our 2026-2027 capital campaign to expand what Joy Meadows can do for kiddos and families impacted by foster care.

The plan: a second campus in Kansas City, Kansas, home to Kansas' first Family Resource Center built for foster care families, plus new enhancements at our Linwood Campus including a covered arena for year-round programming.

$3.6 million. Two campuses. One circle of support getting bigger.

“Foster to adopt” is one phrase for two very different decisions, and mixing them up changes how people show up for kids in care.

This week we’re unpacking why foster care and adoption aren’t the same goal, and the two honest questions every prospective foster parent should ask before saying yes.
