🚨 COMMUNITY SAFETY UPDATE: RECENT THEFTS

As many of you know, our community has experienced a significant amount of theft over the past several weeks. Incidents have included stolen cars, bikes, and scooters; break-ins involving vehicles and sheds; and individuals checking car door handles to see if they are unlocked.

NLIA has been in frequent communication with the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Northern District regarding these incidents. At our September NLIA meeting, an officer spoke with us about the community’s participation in the Neighborhood Crime Prevention Program.

The NLIA Board has been informed that the police department is aware of the ongoing activity in our community and is actively looking into these incidents. In the meantime, they have asked residents to continue reporting any suspicious activity and to share any available video footage that may be helpful.

You can also report concerns using the Anne Arundel County Online Crime Report Form.

We understand how frustrating and concerning these incidents have been for our neighbors. One of the most important things we can do as a community is to report incidents to the police, even when the loss may seem minor. For example, if your car was unlocked and someone entered it and stole items, please report it.

Reporting these incidents helps the police understand the extent of the activity in our neighborhood and may assist with their investigation.

📬 NORTH LINTHICUM RESIDENTS — A LITTLE MAILBOX CLARIFICATION
We’ve heard from several neighbors who were understandably confused after Linthicum-Shipley Improvement Association (LSIA) mailings once again made their way into mailboxes within the North Linthicum Improvement Association (NLIA) community.

So, just to clear things up:

NLIA and LSIA are two completely separate community associations. We have separate boundaries, separate boards, separate meetings, and separate voluntary dues.

If you live on any of the streets below, you are in the NLIA community — NOT LSIA:

Also within the NLIA community you'll find our friends and neighbors in the Linthicum Hills HOA, which includes Susan Court, Marykay Court, and a portion of Nancy Avenue.

We absolutely recognize that both organizations ultimately want many of the same things: strong neighborhoods, informed residents, community involvement, and advocacy for the people who live here. But we are separate entities serving separate communities.

LSIA has its own board, membership and dues. Likewise, NLIA has its own board, meetings, community initiatives and voluntary $20 annual dues.

NLIA dues can be paid through our website (https://nlia-assoc.org/) , through our QR code on that website, or in person at one of our community meetings. NLIA meets on the third Tuesday of the month, 630pm at Overlook Elementary in the Art Room with no meetings in January, July or August.

So if an LSIA membership solicitation happens to land in your mailbox and you live on one of the streets above, no need to question whether the neighborhood boundaries suddenly changed overnight. 😉 You’re still North Linthicum, and NLIA is still your community association.

We wanted to clarify this because the recent mailing has created some genuine confusion among our residents, and we want everyone to know exactly which organization represents their neighborhood and where to send your dues.

Same general goals. Good neighbors. Separate organizations. 💙

North Linthicum Neighbors!

North Linthicum and the surrounding neighborhoods are seeing a significant increase in thefts from vehicles, properties, and homes.

If you see something, say something. We need increased patrols in our neighborhoods, and one of the most important ways to make that happen is by reporting suspicious activity and incidents to local law enforcement.

Please remember to:

🔒 Lock your car doors, even when parked at home.
🔒 Lock your home’s doors and windows.
👀 Stay aware of activity around your home and neighborhood.
📞 Report thefts, attempted thefts, and suspicious activity to law enforcement.

Local law enforcement is aware of what is happening, but they need reports from residents to document the activity and determine where additional patrols are needed.

Posting about an incident on Facebook is helpful for keeping your neighbors informed, but a Facebook post does not replace an official police report. If we want to see more patrols in our neighborhoods, we need to make sure incidents are being reported.

Let’s look out for one another and help keep Linthicum safe. Please report what you see or experience.
