Congratulations to the recipient of the 2026 Talent Recruitment Excellence Award, Southwest Airlines, who joined us in September to celebrate at the Workforce Impact Awards Reception!

Southwest Airlines has consistently demonstrated what it means to be a true workforce partner and an innovator in talent recruitment. Through its strong collaboration with AAWDC, Southwest has gone above and beyond to create meaningful pathways for job seekers while helping build a stronger workforce pipeline for the aviation industry.

In partnership with AAWDC, Southwest has also organized and participated in information sessions that allow individuals not only to learn about available positions, but also to interact directly with employees and trainers who can provide real-world insight into career opportunities and training pathways within the company.

Our 2025–26 AASCE Annual Report is here! Last school year, AASCE Career Coaches helped students across Anne Arundel County explore career interests, develop skills, and prepare for their futures.

The report highlights learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. From workshops, field trips, career fairs to even a fashion show, these experiences gave students opportunities to engage with career exploration. You’ll also learn how our Career Coaches worked with their schools to connect students with businesses, professionals, and partners.

Our next featured Workforce Impact Award winner is Officer Robert Horne from the Annapolis Police Department, who received the 2026 Community Impact Partner Award.

Officer Horne has been a vital partner in supporting and expanding re-entry efforts in Anne Arundel County. He has served as a trusted community voice and ally for individuals facing significant barriers, helping connect them to resources, employment opportunities, training, and support.

Through his collaboration with AAWDC and partners such as Parole and Probation, Anne Arundel County Courts, NCIA, and local businesses, Officer Horne has helped strengthen re-entry services and create meaningful opportunities for individuals working to move forward. His commitment, responsiveness, and compassion have made a lasting impact on the community.
