The Linden Youth Soccer Association (LYSA) was established in 1997. We are a non-profit, volunteer organization that supports traveling soccer teams for the youth in Linden and surrounding area. The travel program currently includes boys and girls teams ranging from U-8 to U-18. Participation in a LYSA travel team includes coach training, professional training, league competition and tournament ma
tches. Some teams may choose to also play summer leagues, indoor winter leagues, or other tournaments. LYSA also runs their own Recreation Program for all skill levels to participate in the Fall and Spring. LYSA is affiliated with New Jersey Youth Soccer Association (NJYS) and United States Soccer Association (USYSA). Club teams currently play in Mid-New Jersey Youth Soccer Association (MNJYSA), Mid Atlantic Premier Soccer (MAPS), and Jersey Area Girls Soccer (JAGS) leagues, which are part of the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association (NJYSA), which is part of the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA). We compete in a fall (September to mid-November) and spring (March to mid-June) seasons. Players are rostered to a team for the entire year (September through June). Games are generally played on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. The younger players (under 11 years old) play a small sided game which is 7 players on a side (7v7). This allows the younger players to have more touches on the ball, so they can improve their soccer skills and be more involved. The older players play a full sided game of 11 players on a side (11v11). A team is placed into a flight with teams of comparable strength, so games are challenging and competitive. Normally there is a ten game schedule each season. During our regular season we typically play five games at our home fields and five are played away. Away games are usually within a 30 to 45 minute drive. Our home field is the Wheeler Park AstroTurf field.
