Linden Lady Lions got the job done on Friday, to move on the semifinals of the Division 6 playoffs. They will play on Tuesday, May 19th, at 4pm, against the #2 seed, Argonaut! Go get’m Lady Lions!
Lions Win game 2 vs Bear River
Olivia Fears drove in four runs on five hits to lead Linden Varsity Lions past Bear River Varsity Lady Bruins 14-8 on Friday. Fears hit an inside the park home run in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the second inning, scoring one.
Linden Varsity Lions rallied for the victory despite trailing 5-0 in the first.
Bear River Varsity Lady Bruins got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ella Bailey doubled, scoring three runs, and Adalaide Mason hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs.
Linden Varsity Lions tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a double by Bernice Ortega, and a triple by Natalie McCann.
Bear River Varsity Lady Bruins took the lead, 8-5, in the top of the fourth thanks to two errors.
Linden Varsity Lions flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring seven runs on five hits to take the lead, 13-8. The biggest blow in the inning was an inside the park home run by Fears that drove in three.
Katie Schallberger earned the win for Linden Varsity Lions. The pitcher surrendered eight hits and four runs (one earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking none. Lottie Smith took the loss for Bear River Varsity Lady Bruins. The starting pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering 13 runs (five earned) on 13 hits, striking out eight and walking two. Cambel Dunn started the game for Linden Varsity Lions. The starter allowed four hits and four runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking none.
Linden Varsity Lions piled up 16 hits in the game. Ortega, McCann, and Millee Holguin each collected multiple hits for Linden Varsity Lions. Schallberger paced Linden Varsity Lions with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Fears stole two bases.
Bear River Varsity Lady Bruins amassed 12 hits in the game. Bailey drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bear River Varsity Lady Bruins with three runs batted in. The catcher went 3-for-4 on the day. Bailey and Smith each collected three hits for Bear River Varsity Lady Bruins. AnaMarin Hemings collected two hits for Bear River Varsity Lady Bruins in four at bats.
