📣Attention in the barn!

Alabama 4-H members ages 9-18 are invited to participate in the return of the state-wide riding contest, Happy Trails Horseback Riding. Advance through riding challenges over the course of 10 months and earn recognition for your time in the saddle! Registration for the 2026-2027 Alabama 4-H Happy Trails Horseback Riding Program has been extended through September 14th!

Let the excitement begin!

Registration for Horse U 2026 - Equine Elementary opens tomorrow (9/1) at 12:00 PM for youth ages 6-12! The registration link will be posted to our social accounts right at noon.

For youth ages 13-18, hold your horses! Your Horse U event is coming in spring 2027 with new opportunities and experiences you won't want to miss.

Volunteers are the heart of Alabama 4-H.

They guide young people to become confident leaders, strong communicators, and productive citizens, helping them learn by doing and lead by serving every day.

During National Volunteer Week, we celebrate the faces and stories of our outstanding Alabama 4-H volunteers who give their time, talents, and hearts to shape the future of our youth.

Thank you to all our Alabama 4-H Volunteers for making a lasting difference in the lives of 4-H’ers across our state.

It’s time to show off those backyard flocks!!

Something exciting is hatching! Alabama Extension is launching new Facebook and Instagram pages dedicated to all things backyard poultry.
Whether you already have a flock or are planning to start one, follow along for research-based information to help you care for healthy, productive birds.

To celebrate the launch and National Chicken Month, we’re hosting a Backyard Poultry Photo Contest! Share a photo of your favorite hen, prized rooster or entire backyard flock for a chance to win.

Two winners will be selected:

Our 4-H Archery Club starts meeting in October! We will gather at the Sportsplex Archery Range on the 1st Tuesday of each month, and the Foscue 3-D Range on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. The meeting time is 3:30-4:30 PM. Youth ages 9-18 can join the club. There is no cost and equipment is provided unless you want to bring your personal bow. Closed toe shoes and parent permission are required. Please call 334-750-4964 for more information.

The 4-H South End Club starts back on September 9th at 3:45 PM. The club will meet at Rock Babylon Church Annex in Dixons Mills, AL. Come join us for some after school fun. We will also meet on October 27, January 12, February 9 and March 9. Mark your calendars. Youth ages 9-18 are welcome!

We know why our kids say they love 4-H because of their friends...we do too!

Our Alabama 4-H Annual Meeting is always a fun time to catch up with each other as well as our friends across the state. It's going to be a great year of Alabama 4-H in West Central Alabama!
