A special thank you to everyone at the LCHS meeting for sending me lunch today. Very special shout out to all the officers and directors- for stepping up to cover for me- and for still including me and making me feel a little useful. I have 1 week before my spine specialist appointment. Life remains on hold until then. This "rumble with the Kayak" has been a humbling experience experience. Please continue to include me in your prayers.

Busy week, with membership meeting Wednesday at noon (Sept 2nd) and History in the Park Thursday at 7 pm (Sept 3rd) in the pavilion. Tom Poland will present "Abandoned and Forgotten, the South that Few See". Dinner beforehand at El Sombrero's at 5:30 pm. Just put out the following update:

This week we have our membership meeting on Wednesday at noon and History in the Park on Thursday at 7 pm. For History in the Park, our own Don and Pat Thomas will present Life in the Revolutionary War Era, and folks in the Sons of the American Revolution will recognize this as the Traveling Trunk presentation. Don and Pat have done this presentation to thousands of school children over the past 15 years, and we decided that we'd like to see it too. We'll have dinner at El Sombrero's beforehand at 5:30.

Our June monthly meeting is this Wednesday at noon. History in the Park is Thursday night at 7 pm in the Pavilion. Harlem GA Historian and Poet Laureate Phil Turner will present selected sections from his documentary interviewing WWII veterans. It's touching and terrifying at the same time. We'll have dinner at El Sombrero's at 5:30 beforehand. All are welcome.
