🏠 Please consider NeighborWorks Lincoln and/or Prairie Roots Community Land Trust as one of your giving priorities this year. We set an ambitious goal of raising $30,000 to help more Lincoln families achieve the goal of homeownership. The best part? Gifts received between May 1 and May 28 make an even bigger impact thanks to a match fund made possible by Lincoln Community Foundation.

Take a look at these drone photos of our 12-home project at 46th & Pioneers!

As a mixed-income project, 7 of the 12 homes will be sold at prices affordable to first-time buyers at 80% or less of Lincoln's median income. These same properties will become part of the Prairie Roots portfolio and remain permanently affordable—sale, after sale, after sale. The remaining 5 homes will be sold at market rate.

Prairie Roots CLT would be nothing without the "C" - Community.

The former "Pete's" I.G.A. Store at 31st and U Streets is part of the PRCLT. As we've been exploring funding options to find a more formal role for the building as a neighborhood asset, Hartley neighbors have reached out and stepped up!

Last weekend, the building was the site for a plant swap pop-up! Organized by and for neighbors, we're always happy to see spaces support work to strengthen the neighborhood!

What would you like to see happen in an empty building in your neighborhood? Leave a comment below.

Today is World CLT Day!

While the context and uses of community land trusts differ from place to place, all CLTs act as stewards of crucial assets for a community - whether it's affordable housing, community gardens, or civic spaces. CLTs keep these foundations of a community accessible and affordable.

The first modern CLT, New Communities, Inc., was founded in Georgia as a prototype pioneered by Black civil rights activists to provide a model of collective ownership for former tenement farmers.

The movement has since spread world-wide with examples of functional community land trusts spanning the globe. We're proud to be a piece of that history-in-the-making as the first community-governed CLT in Nebraska!

Hello, Lincoln!

We're Prairie Roots Community Land Trust (PRCLT) — a subsidiary of NeighborWorks Lincoln.

We are a community land trust dedicated to creating permanently affordable housing and economic opportunities in our city. Rooted in sustainability and community empowerment, our mission is to ensure that every Lincolnite has a stable and affordable place to call home.

We're here to create something different — something lasting. By placing land under community stewardship we protect affordability, prevent displacement, and build stronger neighborhoods from the ground up.

Stay tuned for updates on our projects, opportunities to get involved, and stories from neighbors working together to make Lincoln a place where we can all thrive.
