WE NEED YOUR HELP
I am once again looking for nominations for a variety of awards to be presented at our annual Nebraska ARRL Hamvention. Please email back to me at [email protected] with your nomination. Cutoff is April 30th
Nebraska Ham of the Year. Any male ham radio operator age 18 or older as of 12/31/2025. A ham who has made contributions to the art of Amateur Radio in the State of Nebraska.
Nebraska YL Ham of the Year. Any female ham radio operator age 18 or older as of 12/31/2025. A ham who has made contributions to the art of Amateur Radio in the State of Nebraska.
Young Ham of the Year. Open to any ham radio operator male or female and is 18 years of age or younger as of 12/31/2025. For their contributions to the art of Amateur Radio in the State of Nebraska.
Gwen Anderson KØGAA Memorial Award. For the individual who does a lot of the behind the scenes work and doesn't seek any recognition. This person would be the glue to an event and makes sure it goes off without a hitch. This can be a ham or non-ham who has helped a club or event succeed behind the scenes.
Skip Miller WØKVM Lifetime Achievement Award. For the ham radio operator who has been licensed for a least 25 years as of 12/31/2025. Who has contributed a lifetime of experience to the art and preservation of Amateur Radio. Who has made a positive impact to the hobby in the State of Nebraska and abroad.
Special Services Award. This is for the person(s) who make an impact in the community. And they just happen to be a ham radio operator. It isn't necessarily because of their ham radio skills, but rather that they make an impact in their community. And because they are a ham, they may be recognized for their efforts. Think of any volunteers to other organizations where they have made a positive impact.

The Nebraska QSO Party is set for April 25th - 26th beginning 8am local time on the 25th and ending Sunday evening on the 26th at 8pm local time. All the rules are at www.nebraskaqsoparty.com along with new rare grid activations available for the brave DN91CE, DN91DE and DN91EE. Extra bonuses for those willing to participate. ALSO, get your Team Nebraska together. Anyone one within the state borders can put a team together for a combined score as well as individual awards as usual. So, start planning early and get your strategies going. A great way to go around the clock especially for some late night operating, so you will want a late night operator(s) on your team. GOOD LUCK!!

Richardson, Pawnee, Nemaha, Johnson, Otoe, Lancaster, Cass, Saunders, Sarpy, Douglas, Washington, Dodge, Cuming, Burt, Thurston, Dakota, Dixon, Cedar, Knox, Pierce, Wayne, Madison, Stanton, Platte, Colfax, Butler, Seward, Saline, Gage.

I am so sorry to pass along to you the passing of Robert D. (Bob) Mitchell, WBØRJJ. Bob passed over the weekend and we await any details regarding any arrangements.

Bob was a long time member of LARC and recipient of many if not all the awards. He served on the board in all officer positions including President a couple times as well as a director. Bob was a long time editor of out log and proof reader for quite a few years. A long time employee of Back To The Bible and part time engineer for Norton Warner. Bob was very active in public service and enjoyed being a part of Cornhusker State Games, the State Fair and Toy's For Tot's. Bob was also a NCS on The Easter Nebraska ARES Net. He was an AEC for many years and a Legislative Liaison following all new bills and advising of any that could effect ham radio.

On a personal note, while at Back To The Bible, Bob started a small amateur radio club and built a repeater that was installed at his home until 1999. It didn't have much coverage and I offered a spot on a building. we then made an agreement that I could purchase the repeater as long as I promised to, keep it on the air and make it available to anyone who would want to use it. That repeater is 145.145- and is a little more than county wide coverage and part of the NeARES repeater network. For many years, I had it connected to IRLP and it seem a lot of use.

Please add Bob and family to your prayers tonight and when we get additional information, we'll pass it along!

Thanks to Randy King, KØNC and long time friend, Carl Dabelstein K0SBV for calling and letting me know.

Ed, KØRPT
