Antonin Dvorak was not keen at first on the idea of the cello as solo instrument- words to the effect of a “nasal” high end and “mumbling” low. But Dvorak came around late and did compose for the instrument resulting in the “Concerto in B minor”. The Omaha Symphony performs the great composer’s reconsideration of the noble cello with Oliver Herbert - Cellist soloist. This along with Stravinsky’s “Symphonies of Wind Instruments” is all on Nebraska Concerts, hear it Friday at 11am central.
