Global Ties Nebraska

Global Ties Nebraska Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

🌏 We connect current and emerging global leaders with Nebraskans through community events, professional programming, Dinner Diplomats, and cultural experiences.🌍 Global Ties Nebraska, formerly known as the Lincoln Council for International Visitors (LCIV), is a nonprofit organization based in Lincoln, Nebraska, which facilitates international exchange by hosting emerging global leaders through pro

grams like the U.S. These short-term visits focus on themes such as governance, education, and cultural exchange, aiming to foster mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations.

Established in 1966 as the Mayor’s Committee for International Friendship, we rebranded to Global Ties Nebraska in 2025 to better represent its statewide impact and global mission under our parent organization, Global Ties U.S.. Through professional meetings, cultural activities, and home hospitality dinners with our Dinner Diplomats, Global Ties Nebraska connects international visitors with local citizens, promoting people-to-people diplomacy and cultural understanding.

In 2023, we hosted 71 international emerging and current leaders across eight unique programs, contributing to a total of 3,745 volunteer hours. Over the years, we have welcomed visitors from 63 countries, fostering global connections right here in Lincoln. 🥘 A shared meal can change the world! 🍽️ Our community Dinner Diplomats welcome visiting global leaders into their homes, creating real connections and lasting friendships, and proving that some of the most meaningful acts of diplomacy can be found at the dinner table!

Thanks to a partnership grant with Global Ties U.S. and Marriott International, we were able to encourage even more Dinner Diplomats in our community to open up their homes to conversations, friendships, and understanding that last long after the visit. 🌍💙
