Yazidi Cultural Center: A Vital Resource for Refugees and Immigrants

We are proud to shine a spotlight on the extraordinary work of our Yazidi Cultural Center, which has been an essential resource for refugees and immigrants since its founding. Our center is dedicated to helping Yazidis and other Middle Eastern refugees and immigrants acclimate to life in Nebraska while preserving their rich heritage and culture.

Supporting a Growing Community

Lincoln, Nebraska, is home to one of the largest and fastest-growing Yazidi communities in the United States. Approximately 5000” Yazidis live in the US , with more than 3,000 residing in Lincoln and Omaha. Our thriving community contributes significantly to the cultural diversity of our region.

Stories of Resilience

The journey of many Yazidis to Nebraska is marked by resilience in the face of adversity, fleeing from conflict, genocide, and persecution. Our Yazidi Cultural Center has been a beacon of hope and support for these individuals, offering a safe space where they can find assistance and solidarity. Our comprehensive services include language classes, job training, educational programs, and cultural activities, all aimed at helping newcomers build a stable and fulfilling life in their new home.

Empowering and Enriching

Beyond our support services, the Yazidi Cultural Center plays a crucial role in empowering the Yazidi community. By preserving and promoting Yazidi culture and traditions, our center fosters a sense of identity and pride among community members. This cultural preservation also enriches the broader community, adding to the tapestry of our shared cultural heritage.

Community Impact

The efforts of our Yazidi Cultural Center extend far beyond our immediate community. By fostering mutual understanding and cooperation, our center has become an integral part of the broader society, bridging cultural gaps and promoting inclusivity. Our work not only benefits Yazidis but also enhances the social fabric of Lincoln and Omaha, making our community stronger and more cohesive.

We have built some incredible community leaders, including doctors, physicians, business owners, nonprofit founders, entrepreneurs, lawyers, laborers, and many more. Their contributions are a testament to the strength and potential within our Yazidi community.

Celebrating Our Contributions

This month, and every month, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of our Yazidi Cultural Center. Our unwavering dedication to service and cultural preservation deserves recognition and support. The center’s impact on our community is profound, and our ongoing efforts continue to inspire and uplift us all.

Join us in honoring the Yazidi Cultural Center for our commitment to making a positive difference. Together, we can support our mission and celebrate the resilience and contributions that make our community a vibrant and inclusive place to live.
