Lucy's Haven

Lucy's Haven A faith-based community offering prayer and support for pet parents and raising pet cancer awareness. Our hearts were crushed! We prayed for a miracle!

"Three things will last forever--faith, hope and love--and the greatest of these is love." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13 Lucy was our beloved fur-daughter and our Maxx's constant companion who was only 5 years old, vibrant and full of joy, when her journey took a path we never expected… cancer. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Lymphoma and given one to two weeks to live. As friends and family learned about

Lucy's illness, they prayed. Many prayers were lifted up on her behalf. God answered those prayers and she beat all the odds against her at that time and given 4 months of good quality of life as her cancer went into remission. We savored each moment with her.. each day was a gift. Unfortunately the cancer did return and on July 4, 2012 she went to heaven. We renamed that day "Lucy Independence Day" because she was set free from suffering and pain. Lucy's story is not a story of defeat, but a story of faith, hope and love. Through her, God gave us a passion to help other pet parents who are in need of prayer and support on behalf of their pets. Lucy's Haven was founded to honor Lucy's legacy of faith, hope and love. "Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13

Trust Steadily in God - have eyes to see God's love and provision in the midst of tragedy and trust in Him with all your heart and mind! Hope Unswervingly - stand firm, believe in miracles, never give up, fight the good fight! Love Extravagantly - celebrate each moment, be grateful for each day as it is a gift from God! May you always see His Goodness even in the midst of tragedy! God bless you! Val, Howie, Maggie and Maxx

It is with deep deep sadness that I have to announce the passing of the best dog I have ever owned in my life, due to Lymphoma. My very best friend and loyal companion. He changed my life in ways that I am still being blessed by every day. It was because of him that the world of photography was opened up to me and all the joys and experiences that came as a result. God blessed us in untold ways because of him.

Valerie and I are heartbroken over what Cancer does to our beloved pets.

Maxx was by Lucy every step of the way and was her constant companion. He was devastated by her death. He can now be reunited with her and I hope that their joy knows no bounds.

Until we meet again, good-bye my beloved friend.

Thank you Lord for the joy that he and Lucy brought to our lives.

A heartbreaking story.. Prayer Warriors: Please pray for Jon and Cindy as they just lost their beloved Cierra.. Our hearts hurt for them! May God pour out His amazing love and grace on them during this difficult time. ! Lucy's Haven ♥

My heart breaks to have to make this update. A couple days ago we asked for prayers for our friend, Cierra, a golden retriever who had gone in for a groom but suffered a heat stroke and ended up in the animal ICU. Sadly, Cierra lost the battle to survive early this morning. Her parents, Cindy and Jon wish to thank you ALL for your amazing outpouring of love, support and prayers over the last couple days.

We are huge fans of ParkerPup for so many reasons.. but mostly because of his heart to make a difference in the lives that he touches every day. We love you Parker and your family and absolutely will have our vote for Hero Dog!! Thank you for all that you do to help end cancer and for all the many other ways you are a blessing to us all! ~ Lucy's Haven ♥

ANNOUNCEMENT!

For the past few years I have been excited to watch many of my good friends compete in the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards. My family always respected those who shared their hearts with the world and inspired many more to do the types of things they do.

After Daisy lost her battle with cancer this summer, my family decided to live by a new motto. SEIZE THE DAY. None of us are promised tomorrow. We have to go for the things we believe in. I believe in making a difference, inspiring hope, and my family wants to honor me by nominating me in the 2014 Hero Dog Awards.

I'm nervous because... well, I'm just a little dog from Oregon doing things lots of other dogs do. But I do have a message. And I want to share it.

So I hope you'll stick with me through this. I know it can be a hard competition to be in, but Daisy taught me to live in the moment and above all else: to LOVE.

Give your pups some lovin' today and check for lumps and bumps .. ♥

Please before heading out to shop today spend a little extra time doing a nose to tail exam on your pups. Don't forget in their mouths too, sadly cancer can strike at anytime so please be your dogs Hero and give them that extra love and attention they all deserve. "Please cross post this message it is so important that if you do find cancer in the early stages your odds are so much better to be able to treat them."

Very good!

Veterinarian Dr Patricia Jordan sent us this correspondence with a colleague. Please read and share this glimpse into what happens behind some vets' office doors. Revaccination has never been shown to be necessary. According to immunologist Dr Ronald Schultz, it is an "indefensible practice."
"I sell my soul once a month to do vaccine clinics in florida...the company I work for just spent 3million dollars upgrading our vans and tables etc...that's how much money people are willing to spend on poor vet care if it comes with the perceived value of those vaccines that keep the pet healthy. They actually thank me for being such a great vet and providing this service...and I take home in one day what I make in two weeks from my own practice. Re-education of the public needs to be a priority of the AHVMA...it has to be."
