Today is International Day of Families, a reminder that staying active together can strengthen both our physical health and our connections with one another. ❤️

Families take many shapes and forms. Some are born into, others are chosen. Some are big, some are small. What matters is the support, encouragement, and joy we share together.

Whether it’s going for a walk, playing at the park, riding bikes, dancing in the kitchen, gardening, or cheering each other on at a game, active family time can create healthy habits and lasting memories.

At the Community Health Endowment, we know that opportunities for movement, play, and connection help build a healthier Lincoln for everyone.

For many families, summer school creates a difficult balancing act between academic support, childcare, and keeping kids active and engaged.

That challenge inspired Family Service Lincoln to create “Healthy for Life,” a Community Health Ideas Challenge finalist focused on supporting students beyond the classroom.

The proposed program would provide afternoon swimming, sports exploration, nutrition activities, and enrichment opportunities for students attending summer school at Huntington and Riley Elementary Schools.

Read how this idea aims to support families, improve youth fitness, and reduce health disparities in Northeast Lincoln through the power of community partnership. 💚

For many young adults aging out of foster care, securing housing isn’t just difficult... it can feel nearly impossible.

Even with a job and steady income, many face barriers like limited credit history, no rental references, and no family member able to cosign a lease.

The HUB is working on a Guaranteed Cosigner Program designed to help bridge that gap and create a pathway toward stable housing and long-term independence.

The idea combines housing access with financial literacy, tenant education, and ongoing support, recognizing that housing is deeply connected to health and wellbeing.

Congratuations on being a finalist in the Community Health Ideas Challenge, The HUB- Central Access Point for Young Adults! Thank you for your innovation as we work toward Lincoln being the healthiest city in the nation.
