For Omaha Lead Week, Conservation Nebraska, the City of Omaha - Mayor's Hotline and Douglas County Health Department are working together to connect people with lead testing and useful information.

For Manny, growing food is also about growing relationships.

Since completing our Boards & Commissions Fellowship, Manny has founded Indigenous Foodways, a nonprofit focused on nourishing people and strengthening community through Indigenous ways of growing, preparing and sharing food.

Over the past year, that work has taken her from community gardens in Lincoln to monthly trips to Pine Ridge, food distributions, classrooms and after-school garden clubs.
Manny’s work is a reminder that fellowship is only one chapter. The leadership, relationships and community impact keep growing.

Worth a read from the National Audubon Society on the connections between energy planning and wildlife conservation.

Birds tell us we need to act on climate, and access to renewable energy sources is a necessary part of that solution.

This summer, a historic Joint Statement of Agreement was signed to strengthen coordination on transmission planning across the Intermountain West. This bipartisan Agreement marks a major milestone for the region’s energy future. It also reflects a shared commitment to modernizing the electric grid so it can deliver affordable, reliable power while supporting the clean energy transition and helping address the climate crisis for birds and people.

Happy World Habitat Day! Today is a reminder that our communities are spaces that we share not only with one another, but with so many other living creatures. The places we build for people, such as neighborhoods, parks, roads, yards, and cities, are also home to countless species that rely on these spaces to survive.

As members of these shared environments, we have a responsibility to be good stewards of the land, water, and habitats around us for the benefit of people, wildlife, and future generations.
