Take Pause is a powerful program in Lincoln, Nebraska, where teens and police officers come together outside of law enforcement to laugh, share a meal, and build real relationships. Sponsored by the Malone Center and supported by the Lincoln Police Department, this program helps break down barriers, create understanding, and build community through fun, conversation, and mutual respect.
When officers and teens connect in a positive space, we prevent future misunderstandings, reduce conflict, and grow empathy on both sides. It’s about showing that we’re all part of the same village — and it’s time to bring that village back.
Thank you to every teen and officer who shows up and helps make this happen. This program continues to make a real impact, and I’m proud to be part of it.
We laugh. We learn. We grow.
We all Take Pause.
At this event, we took a trip to Barnes & Noble and kicked off our brand new book club! 📚 Our first read: the powerful and eye-opening book Lies My Teacher Told Me. This book not only teaches real history, it sparks deep conversations about how history is taught, how it shapes our communities, and how it even connects to policing today.
We’re excited to keep this momentum going and continue building meaningful moments through this program. More memorable events to come!
