Live coverage of NASA’s CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) initiative and Artemis campaign, Intuitive Machines is targeting no earlier than 6:24 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 22, to land their Odysseus lunar lander near Malapert A in the South Pole region of the Moon.

☄️The Green Comet, C/2022 E3 (ZTF) can still be seen during January and the first few days of February with binoculars and small telescopes. We don't know yet if it will be visible to the unaided eye. Always best to get outside of city lights for best view.☄️

Bring binoculars or a small telescope just in case: The comet, last seen 50,000 years ago, may appear as a green smudge in the sky.

Head out Monday night, December 21, just before sunset and look for the "Great Conjunction" as the sky turns dark. If you have a pair of binoculars or a telescope bring them along for a better view! Find an open area where you can see far into the distance along the horizon towards the southwest.

We are now closing in on the long-awaited night of Dec. 21, when Jupiter and Saturn will engage in their "great conjunction."

First I've heard of an event like this with such a specific and short viewing time period.

The meteor storm, not to be confused with its less intense cousin -- the meteor shower -- will be lighting the eastern horizon for much of the Midwest starting at 10:30 p.m. CT Thursday.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln students, faculty and staff are invited to scour the night sky’s innumerable constellations during the Behlen Observatory open house on Friday, Feb. 23.

The open house, titled “Hunting Orion,” will run 7-10 p.m. and will give attendees the chance to see the night sky in a different, tangible way — through the lens of the observatory’s 30 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.
