We get to know our volunteers.

Before a new volunteer joins us at club, we take time to have a conversation. We want to learn what brings them to Girls Code Lincoln, what interests them, where they can make the biggest difference, and how we can help them grow along the way.

So many of our volunteers return throughout their college careers, and we truly value the commitment and energy they bring to our girls and our community.

And because our girls' safety comes first, every volunteer who works in person at clubs completes a background check.

They’re back — and we’re grateful.

One of the things that makes Girls Code Lincoln special is the community that grows around our clubs.

Each year, volunteers return to spend another season encouraging girls, supporting our clubs, and helping create the welcoming environment our students experience from session to session.

That continuity matters. Returning volunteers bring experience with our clubs and a familiar presence for our students, while new volunteers bring fresh energy and ideas to our community.

Experience. Energy. Community. That's what our returning volunteers bring to GCL, and we're excited to welcome them back for another year.

issues with code alongside the students." – Sandarika

Sandarika first joined Girls Code Lincoln as a club
facilitator during her senior year of high school.
Through Girls Code Lincoln, she discovered new
opportunities to challenge herself—including the
NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award and the Math
Kangaroo competition. She applied for the NCWIT
Award and was recognized for her achievements in
computing, and she participated in our Math Kangaroo
test center, where she went on to become a Nebraska
State Winner.

Now entering her second year at the Raikes School,
Sandarika continues to expand her role at Girls Code
Lincoln. Whether she's helping students work through
coding challenges or taking on new leadership
opportunities, she's passionate about encouraging girls
to discover what they're capable of.

Her journey reflects what Girls Code Lincoln is all
about—creating opportunities to learn, grow, and
inspire others.

A little Saturday night throwback! 💜

Our girls get to experience technology beyond the classroom, too. Once or twice a year, our clubs tour local technology organizations and get a behind-the-scenes look at the many ways technology is used in the real world.

Since 2016, Girls Code Lincoln began with a simple idea: give girls the opportunity to discover what they can do with technology.

Since then, girls have explored tech, written JavaScript and Python code, worked with hardware, solved problems, made friends, and discovered confidence along the way.

And we're still here. Still learning. Still building. Still empowering girls to code.

Now we're getting ready to welcome our next group of girls.

Open Enrollment for girls in grades 4–9 is open through August 21, and our clubs are completely free.

💜 Throwback Thursday 💜

Did you know every Girls Code Lincoln club meeting begins with a Welcome Activity?

We believe friendships are just as important as programming skills. Before we dive into coding, our members spend time laughing, collaborating, and getting to know one another.

This week, the challenge was to design paper airplanes and see whose could fly the farthest. ✈️

It's one of the many ways we create a welcoming environment where every girl feels like she belongs.

Our leadership team and instructors invest countless hours behind the scenes designing each season's learning experience. On club days, facilitators join them to encourage, support, and celebrate every student's success.
