Hoopin For a Cause

Hoopin For a Cause In November 2009 Nick Madsen was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer. The first tournament was held May 2010 and was a huge success.

In December 2009 Nick had two surgeries and in January 2010 he started chemotherapy treatments. Of course the sugeries and chemo came with a pile medical bills so Nick and his best friend Eric Currin came up with the idea of putting on a basketball tournament to raise money. Now a year later Nick is still cancer free and he and Eric decided to make the tournament an annual event to raise money for individuals affected by cancer.

We're pretty excited to present these two items tommorow! 8am - 4pm at Lincoln High!

As we all know this stupid thing we call cancer affects us all in one way or another and we have a found another individual in our community that is in their own battle as we speak. This year's tourney recipient is Sherry Gooley of Omaha, NE.
Sherry's life took an unexpected turn on December 10, 2014. At the age of 29 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. A diagnosis that hits even closer to home for Sherry as her mother passed away from cancer. Since her diagnosis Sherry has undergone a double mastectomy, four rounds of intense chemotherapy with 12 more rounds of chemotherapy to come. For the past 6 years Sherry has been giving back to her community as an officer in the Omaha Police Department. Sherry is also recently engaged to her boyfriend of 3 years so please come out to support Sherry, Nathan and their family as she continues her fight. Also please see more on Sherry's story at the link below

Once again for those who may have missed it, here is the info on this years tourney recipient....

This year’s recipient is Tim Hendricks of Wahoo, NE who was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January of this year. Tim who teaches Yutan, NE is married and has a 14 month old son. After Tim’s diagnosis, he went through chemotherapy treatments which nearly took his life. At this point in time, Tim is waiting on further scans and tests to determine if he will need to endure any further treatments. Tim has recently returned to teaching his students, and is thankful to be back in the classroom. With your help, we can make this process a little less stressful for Tim and his family! Please bring your family & friends to support Tim & The Hendricks Family and enjoy a full day of good basketball for a GREAT CAUSE!
