Lincoln Bike Kitchen

Lincoln Bike Kitchen LBK transforms lives by making cycling accessible for people in need in our community.

Our purpose is to refurbish donated bicycles and distribute them to people in our community facing financial or situational barriers, expanding access to safe, reliable bikes and bike-related resources.

There’s just something special about a first bike. 🚲💗

This little rider came to the Lincoln Bike Kitchen to receive her very first bicycle — and that smile pretty much says it all.

A bike means adventure, independence, confidence and a whole lot of childhood memories waiting to happen.

We’re pretty lucky to get a front-row seat to moments like this. 💕

Today at LBK, Shop Coordinator Wayne showed our advanced mechanics how to change and clean brake pads on a mechanical disc brake — strengthening the skills they’ll later share with new volunteers and supporting the hands‑on learning culture that keeps our community growing. 🙌

"I can't believe how pretty it is!" 💕🚲

That was the reaction when she saw her new bike for the first time. Safe to say... it was love at first ride.

These are the moments we work for. ❤️

It was a beautiful morning at Antelope Park! 🌞 LBK mechanics were on site today to support our friends at KôZ International during their Pedal for a Purpose event. We're honored to partner with an organization that shares our belief in the power of bicycles to change lives.

🚲 A Quick Reminder About E-Bikes & Repairs at the Lincoln Bike Kitchen

We support all kinds of cycling, but the Lincoln Bike Kitchen does not repair e-bikes.

While e-bikes may look like traditional bicycles, they include motors, batteries, wiring, and electronic systems that require specialized training, tools, and parts. Our volunteer mechanics are trained to work on traditional bicycles and are not equipped to diagnose or repair e-bike electrical systems.

We also want to clarify that our repair services are part of our mission and serve our community members who are in need. They focus on basic bicycle repairs and maintenance that can typically be completed in about an hour or less.

Because we are a volunteer-powered nonprofit, we reserve the right to decline repairs that are beyond our capabilities, require extensive labor, specialized parts, or otherwise fall outside our mission and repair policies.

✅ We accept e-bike donations
✅ We provide basic repairs on traditional bicycles
❌ We do not repair e-bike electrical systems
❌ We may decline repairs that fall outside our policies or available resources
❌ We do not repair scooters, etc.

Thank you for understanding and helping us keep our volunteers, customers, and community safe. ❤️🚲

What makes Lincoln so special? We think it's the people.

Every week at the Lincoln Bike Kitchen, we see neighbors helping neighbors—people donating bicycles, volunteers sharing their time and talents, community groups making generous gifts, and families working together to make a difference.

Recently, we were reminded once again why Lincoln is such an extraordinary place to call home.

Read our latest blog and celebrate the generosity that keeps our mission rolling:

Today reminded us why the Lincoln Bike Kitchen exists.

Families, students, commuters, and longtime supporters all came out for our annual bike sale — picking up refurbished bikes, sharing stories, and helping fuel a mission that matters.

Every dollar raised goes right back into getting bikes to people who need them most.

And thanks to the matching grant from , your support goes twice as far.

Thank you, Lincoln, for showing up with heart and helping us keep our community moving.

Thank you, Lincoln.

We are humbled, grateful, and inspired by the incredible support shown for the Lincoln Bike Kitchen through Give to Lincoln Day.

Because of you, we'll continue transforming donated bicycles into reliable transportation for children, adults, and families throughout our community. Every gift, every share, and every word of encouragement helps move our mission forward.

Thank you for believing in what we do and in the power of a bicycle to change lives.

A special thank you to the Lincoln Community Foundation for making Give to Lincoln Day possible and for their continued commitment to strengthening our community through local nonprofits.

Follow us to see the great things we'll accomplish together this year. The work continues, and we're excited to share the journey with you. 🚲❤️

The part nobody sees.

Volunteers repair donated bikes, recycle parts and tires, fit helmets, add locks, and carefully match each bike to someone who needs it most.

And then, someone rides away on that bike.

A child with a bike for summer.
An adult with transportation to work.
A family with one less barrier standing in the way.

Today is Give to Lincoln Day — the last day to give.
